Fun day

Thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Empuries and Isle Medes. Our tour guide, Gaspar, was wonderful. He gave us a recommendation for lunch, less touristy.

Great site but set expectations on the tour
This is a hard review to write. The site was spectacular and I’ve been to many places of antiquity. The tour wasn’t much of a tour. Our guide was a wonderful guy and we had a great conversation going out there. But he didn’t say much about the history and when there he pretty much bought our ticket and we had an audio guide. The audio was great and we could control it - but this has happened to be twice recently: I pay a lot for what is effectively a kind driver. So be prepared for that. Also the museum is under renovation and no one mentioned it. Finally while we chose not to do the boat tour it was available for certain hours and it would have been hard to see the site and get to any boat but the 4:00.
Anyhow we had a great day and our guide was very kind. Just a heads up.
Empúries
It can get hot but windy in this part of the Costa Brava in the summer, so bring extra sun protection and layers.
There are plenty of places to visit after Empúries, making it an ideal day-trip destination.
A trip to Empúries can include quite a lot of walking in exposed areas, so be sure to take plenty of water and stop in the shade often.
