What are people saying about Aswan

Private car - 2 people - great and safe driver
We booked private car for 2 people to go on day trip from Aswan to Abu Simbel and return.
Service was great, driving safe, with a very nice and polite driver, well mannered who didn’t hesitate to share with us some insights about Abu Simbel despite that allowed us to deep dive on some knowledge we already had.
Thank you again :)

We had such a wonderful...
We had such a wonderful experience with King Mina as our guide during our Nile Cruise! He was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful throughout the entire trip. He made sure we were comfortable and always went out of his way to assist us whenever we needed anything.
What impressed us the most was his excellent knowledge of Egyptian history. He explained everything so clearly and brought the ancient sites and stories to life in a really interesting and engaging way.
King Mina is not only very knowledgeable but also genuinely caring and pleasant to be around. He made our trip even more memorable, and we truly appreciated all his help and kindness. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a knowledgeable and friendly guide for your Nile Cruise! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Amazing visit to the temples
Make sure you confirm the pick up point. The drive is 3+ hours but very interesting. And Abu Simbel is amazing. Our guide spent an hour giving us information on the temples before we arrived and gave us as much time as we wanted to explore them. The local lunch was the best fish meal we enjoyed in Egypt: absolutely delicious.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing Nile Cruise Experience with a Few Things to Know
Overall, our experience with the Nile Cruise tour company was very positive. From the beginning, they were professional, punctual, reliable, and very well organized. We felt worry-free from the moment we booked, which made a huge difference while traveling in Egypt.
Communication was excellent. We received information and updates shortly after making our booking, and the company also offered additional services, including a private Cairo tour, which we accepted. We were very happy with that experience as well.
One thing that was disappointing was the payment method (additional tours) . We had agreed that payment would be made by Visa, but at the last minute we were told that we had to pay in cash. This was inconvenient and frustrating, especially when traveling and planning expenses.
We also appreciated the complimentary airport-to-hotel transfer in Aswan. That was a very nice touch and made our arrival much easier.
Day 1 – Aswan
We were picked up from our hotel and visited the High Dam and Philae Temple, both of which were interesting and well organized.
Afterward, our guide told us that we couldn't go to the boat yet, so we were taken to a perfume shop. This was honestly one of the parts of the trip we didn't enjoy. It felt more like a sales stop than part of the tour, and we ended up purchasing something we probably wouldn't have bought otherwise. In my opinion, these types of shopping stops should be optional, rather than something travelers are brought to without being given a choice.
The Nile cruise itself was wonderful. We stayed on a 5-star Nile cruise ship, and the ship was beautiful and comfortable.
Day 2 – Abu Simbel
We woke up around 3:00 AM and were picked up at approximately 3:50 AM for the drive to Abu Simbel. Around 4:20 AM, we arrived at a police checkpoint and waited until approximately 5:00 AM for the road to open. We weren't really sure why we needed to arrive so early at the checkpoint, especially since we spent about 40 minutes sitting in the vehicle without air conditioning.
The drive was about 3.5 hours each way, but is Abu Simbel worth it? Absolutely — 100%! It was one of the highlights of our trip and something I would definitely recommend.
Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy the guiding experience as much. Our guide seemed to be very busy with another group and was rushing between groups, while also dealing with other matters during our visit.
The good thing is that we returned to the cruise in time for lunch and had the afternoon to relax.
Day 3 – Karnak Temple
We left around 7:00 AM to visit Karnak Temple. The tour was well organized, and we returned to the ship afterward.
Day 4 – Luxor
Luxor was a very busy but incredible day, with several major sites to visit.
We visited the Valley of the Kings, where we were told that three tombs were included with the entrance ticket. However, the tombs open to visitors rotate in order to help preserve them, so some of the more famous tombs require an additional fee. We chose to visit Tutankhamun, Seti I, and Ramses IV, which meant paying extra for each.
There are also some small additional expenses to keep in mind. For example, the golf cart at the Valley of the Kings costs 25 Egyptian pounds and is cash only. The golf cart at Hatshepsut Temple was also 25 Egyptian (per person) pounds cash only. These aren't major costs, but it's good to know ahead of time so you have cash available.
Hatshepsut Temple was absolutely breathtaking and was one of my favorite stops.
We then visited Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple. There is quite a bit of walking, but being able to see these incredible historical sites in person makes it completely worthwhile.
Unfortunately, the day ended with another shopping stop, this time at a stone shop. Again, this was frustrating because we weren't interested in buying anything. I would strongly recommend that the company make these shopping stops completely optional. Travelers should be able to choose whether they want to visit shops rather than feeling obligated to go.
Overall
Despite a few issues, we had a great overall experience. The company did an excellent job organizing the transportation, tours, timing, and cruise. The guides and drivers were generally professional, punctual, and reliable, and we always felt that the logistics of the trip were well taken care of.
Our biggest recommendation would be to eliminate or make the perfume and stone shop stops optional. These stops took away from an otherwise excellent experience and can leave travelers feeling pressured to purchase something.
Also, make sure you clarify the payment method in advance, as our agreed-upon Visa payment was changed to cash at the last minute.
Overall, we would recommend this tour company and the Nile cruise experience. The organization and reliability were excellent, Abu Simbel was absolutely worth the long journey, the temples were incredible, and cruising the Nile was an unforgettable experience. With a few improvements to the shopping stops and guiding experience, this could easily be a 5-star experience.

Nile cruise must book - Sonesta Sun Goddess
I cannot recommend booking through this company enough. I ended up on the Sonesta Sun Goddess and I picked the deluxe option. I was offered an upgrade for 100USD upon arrival and took it. The room was outstanding, with a large bed, good bathroom, living space, TV and balcony.
There were not many people on the boat which was great and it felt quite private all the time. The hospitality was phenomenal and every staff member would go above and beyond.
The food was delicious, fresh and exciting. There was an ok selection of alcoholic beverages however this is expected in a Muslim country.
My Tour guide was Ahmed (Mr Joseph). It was a small tour of 2 couples. He was such an amazing tour guide and I cannot recommend him enough. He had such a deep and comprehensive knowledge of the history of ancient Egypt but also the country itself. I never felt rushed nor did anything feel like a drag. If you’re booking, you HAVE to request Mr Joseph (Ahmed).
One of the nights myself and him went to a local cafe to watch Australia vs Egypt play. He did not have to do this but it shows the character he is and the efforts to make his guests feel comfortable in his country.

An Unforgettable 4-Day Nile Cruise
Our 4-day Nile cruise was an amazing experience from start to finish. Communication after booking was smooth and easy via WhatsApp, and the airport pickup in Aswan was perfectly organized.
Our guide, Talaat, was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. He shared fascinating historical insights at every temple before giving us plenty of free time to explore, take photos, and enjoy each site at our own pace.
The ship itself was modern, very clean, and comfortable, and the food was delicious throughout the trip.
Everything was well organized, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. The value for money is excellent, and we can highly recommend this Nile cruise to anyone visiting Egypt!

Abu Simbel Tour
We were a group of 8 on a Viking RiverCruise. The excursion to Abu Simbel did not have enough plane seats available for all of us so we booked the day through Viator. We were connected with Omar, our tour guide from Black Dragon Tours. He did a fabulous job. Excellent historical knowledge and a joy to travel with. We had a private 8 person tour in a comfortable van that drove us 3 hrs to the temples. Yes a plane ride is much quicker but would have had to sit in the airport waiting for 2 hrs to leave so we arrived at the site at least 45 min before them. It was quite interesting driving thru the Sahara dessert and learned quite a bit about it. We arrived safely about 10:00 AM and had the entire place to ourselves!! Not a single person in the temples with us. As we were finishing up the groups from out boat that flew were just arriving. The point is we saved $400 per person on the same excursion, had the best experience at the temples and arrived back only 30 min after everyone else. This is a great alternative. Request Omar he’s wonderful!!

Our guide Sam made the trip worthwhile
The trip started with a meet and greet at Aswan airport. The river boat representative was there to meet us and to hard us off to our private guide.
The river boat was nice with a lounge and bar and also a pool/spa on the top deck. Breakfast/lunch and dinner was buffet style on a lower deck. Food was mostly local menus. The cabin was good size and the bathroom was reasonable size. The shower was hot and strong pressure.
The tours Itenerary were arranged by tour boat company. Our guide Sam, was with us for all tours, arranged for the tickets. He was very knowledgeable about all the Egyptian temples that we visited and provided not only the historical facts, but all the back-stories.he was funny and engaging. He also arranged the private car and drivers for the excursions, including the boat ride to visit the Temple of Philae.

Highly recommend
We truly enjoyed the cruise and our tour of Luxor with Nervien. The organization and coordination were very smooth—there was never a moment when we felt lost or confused. We felt very well taken care of, and Enjy was very communicative and helpful throughout.
The cruise was definitely worth the money and exceeded our expectations, with a lovely boat and great food. The crew was delightful—very polite and helpful.
Nervien made our Luxor experience unforgettable, sharing a wealth of interesting background and history. The tour guides in Abu Simbel, Kom Ombo, and Edfu were also excellent.
Highly recommend!

Ok-ish Ship, Great Guide!
The ship was a low-average one with decent facilities that get the job done for the purpose of exploring upper Egypt in a cruise.
Our guide Talaal was an amazing guy, knowledgeable about Egyptian history and always reachable for a conversation or clarifying doubts about the itinerary. I recommend him 100%.
The group of people I shared with was the most amazing one I could have wished for, that was a great plus to the trip and a reason to get this package.
You're mostly overpaying in some things but the worst was the Karnak Temple's lights show that is a dated show for which the guide charged 50 USD and is probably worth 10 USD. Totally skippable that one.

Essential Egyptian Tourism Experience
As described, trip included a nice boat (ours was the Royal Signature Olivia), all tickets to temples and Abu Simbel included, and a tour guide (ours was Magdy from Egypt Knight Tours, who we had a great experience with). You run the course of the sites alongside numerous other boats at the same time, actually going through some of them when you are docked to get off the water and to the sites. Expect early mornings to hit temples early as the boats all have a system for completing the route on a certain amount of time. Food was buffet style and okay quality; however, service was very good and workers were nice. For Valley of the Kings, ask your guide about tombs that cost additional amounts like Seti I (incredible) and King Tut (historically important for archaeology but very small). They will let you know what they recommend.
