Awesome tour

Nathan was fantastic, driving us around in a luxury Mercedes van, taking in a range of sites and learning some interesting things about Wellington. We appreciated the way we were engaged and the tour customised to meet our particular interests. We left the tour feeling like friends who had enjoyed a wonderful experience together. Our only regret is that we didn’t plan to spend more time in Wellington on this trip, as there were so many places we would have liked to explore further.

Beautiful Nature and inspiring Consevation

The guided tour at Zealandia was a wonderful experience and very interesting for me. We walked along beautiful paths through this unique sanctuary, and I was especially delighted to discover tuatara as well as the many different protected native bird species. Our guide explained everything very clearly and shared many interesting stories and insights, which made the tour even more enjoyable. I was truly impressed by Zealandia and by the whole conservation project. It is inspiring to see what has been achieved here to protect and restore New Zealand’s native wildlife. I highly recommend taking a guided tour – it made my visit even more special.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about all things LOTR and was an excellent storyteller! I thoroughly enjoyed the Weta Workshop tour and seeing all the amazing props and costumes that were made for movies other than LOTR. Seeing the film locations with the sets no longer there required your imagination—but you can’t be an LOTR fan without one.

Fantastic Coast Tour!

We were prepared for what we were sure was going to be a miserable day as we reach Wellington amidst pouring rain and gusty winds. But thankfully we stayed the course and Graham picked us up for what will be an unforgettable tour. Graham was fantastic and he definitely earned respect for handling the drive through some brutal weather to get us out to the coast. The scenery though was surreal as the rain and fog made the slow drive through the immense wind turbines/rugged farmland a drive through a Salvador Dali exhibit. Graham navigated us down to the coast but the winds were freezing the slowing rain to the windshield. Graham was awesome and had some coffee and tea available. We sat a few moments chatting then finally the storm broke and we were awarded a view of the fur seals. What we thought was one or two ended up being a dozen plus. But the sight that mesmerized us was the sheer power of the surf raging against the rocky shoreline. That fury will be a memory that lasts forever. With our viewing complete Graham headed us back to town for a misty walkthrough the Otari-Wilton's Bush. Graham - thanks for sticking with us and safely getting us through that storm! We thoroughly enjoyed this experience and you will too though you may have to time it right, and pay Graham a bit extra 😊, if you want to see version we were privileged to see!

Highly recommend

Even on an extremely windy and rainy day, our tour guide, Steve, made sure we had the best experience. He’s extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area and highlighted cool facts along the way. All three wine tastings were excellent. The sommeliers were friendly and knowledgeable. You get a lot of value for the cost of the tour. I highly recommend.

Stunning Landscapes and expereicnes

Zozo communicated excellently beforehand, as we needed to change the day, and this continued on the day when the driver was stuck in traffic. The tour was excellent, with Phil, the owner, showing excellent knowledge and a well-paced itinerary that was jam-packed but didn't feel rushed. The highlight for me, likely with the excellent weather, was the trip down the coast to see the Pallister Lighthouse, a climb not for the faint-hearted, and a few surprise seals to boot. Well worth the money, and the dinner was excellent!

We had the most amazing day exploring beautiful Wellington! Blessed to have a wind free, sun filled day too! Nathan our guide was absolutely brilliant!! His stories and enthusiasm made the day fly! He felt like a part of the fam by the end of it! Seeing so many locations where LOTR was filmed, learning some extra facts and getting a chance to recreate some scenes was a lot of fun - and through it all we remained amazed at just how beautiful Wellington is!! 10/10 for sure!!!

An Absolute Must!

We spent the day with Nathan, a local Wellingtonian. It was our good fortune to be the only people on the tour (4 people) which meant we got some personalised flexibility in our itinerary. Nathan took great care of the family members with mobility limitations and gave me extra time at the WETA shop because he knew I was a LOTR fan. We had a guided tour of Te Papa built into our day and Nathan gave us extra time to go through the Gallipoli exhibition afterwards (honestly its a must see!) We all agreed it was a fantastic experience. I booked through Viator and Nathan is part of Ka Rawe Tours - highly recommend. 5/5 in all aspects.

Great experience at Weta Workshop

It was a fantastic experience i was amazed at how much Weta had been involved in! I would say not for a younger child , but great for teens And adults who love movies! I ended up watching Krampus when we got back to the hotel just because I saw one of the puppets at the Weta workshop! Also got to talk to a couple of the creators who were working that day. Met the “gloop” guy, he made 8,000 litres of gloop for the Matirx movies 🤣

Don’t miss the Wellington LOTR half day excursion!!!

So, so awesome!! Our drive/tour guide had been an extra on several occasions and was just had a wealth of knowledge. We were overjoyed with the Weta experience and our Guide there was a nerd—happily so—and yay! For us as he, too, lived, ate and breathed info about LOTR movies and Weta’s part in the productions. We will definitely seek out Viator excursions vs. cruise ship excursions! Thank you!!!!

We had an amazing time! Wayne was our tour guide for the beginning of the tour and he was exceptional. His knowledge of Lord of the Rings was absolutely amazing and we learned so much. Weta Workshop was an amazing tour and it was so interesting to see all the movie props. Stan was our tour guide after the workshop tour and he also had exceptional knowledge of Lord of the Rings. We couldn’t have wished for a better day!
