Beyond Warhol, we explore the region's culture, hiking to the majestic statue of Count Laborec and visiting the solemn ruins of the Krasny Brod monastery, a powerful memorial to World War I. Look for rare brown bears on this 6-hour bear-spotting expedition into the High Tatra Mountains from Poprad and the Tatra area. Accompanied by an experienced guide, venture into the mountains and choose to walk or cycle along valley trails to prime bear-watching locations. Watch for the animals—the local bear population is estimated at 180—and look for other native wildlife such as deer, foxes, and eagles.
