Museum Geologi is one of the oldest museums in Indonesia, which traces the country’s fascinating geological investigations through 250,000 rocks and minerals, and 60,000 fossils. Spread across two stories, multimedia exhibits explore everything from active volcanoes and the development of human settlements to fossils of ancient human skulls discovered in the Indonesian archipelago.

Hailed as Bandung’s most scenic street, Braga Street features charming colonial architecture and several historic buildings, contributing to Bandung’s nickname of the Paris of Java. While nothing on it rivals the Eiffel Tower, the street is charming to wander and delve deeper into the city’s rich history.

Ancol Ocean Dream Samudra, an “edutainment” theme park, centers on dolphins but is home to creatures including sea lions and penguins. In addition to animal and stunt shows, the park has a 4D cinema and an underwater theater with shows featuring dolphins and divers. Children will enjoy the small selection of rides and the bird park.

Indonesia’s first outpost of the children’s edutainment concept that’s taken the world by storm, KidZania Jakarta occupies over 80,000 square feet (7,500 square meters) of space in South Jakarta. Younger kids will thrill to the opportunity to role-play careers from firefighter and doctor to beauty therapist in a miniature model city.

Sibling to the hugely popular Waterbom Bali, Waterbom Jakarta is a North Jakarta water park. Occupying around 9 acres (4 hectares) of landscaped grounds in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK), it offers slides, artificial waves, a lazy river, and areas for younger kids. There are a range of food options as well as gazebos for rent.

A modern, open-air mall in the heart of bustling Bandung, Cihampelas Walk (Ciwalk) is a one-stop shopping, dining, and entertainment destination. Stores here sell everything from Indonesian fashion and batik-inspired textiles to underwear, jewelry, electronics, and housewares. Plus, the food court is a draw in itself, serving up a delicious mix of Indonesian, Asian, and international dishes.

Set in Puncak, high in the cool West Java hills around Bogor, the Gunung Mas Tea Plantation dates back to the Dutch colonial era. Today, the 6,000-acre (2,428-hectare) site is owned by the Indonesian government. Visitors can tour the tea factory and plantation and also opt for hiking, horseback riding, and even paragliding in season.

One of Bandung’s historically significant streets, Jalan Asia Afrika is a bustling and culture-rich thoroughfare in the capital of the West Java province. It’s home to the Asia Afrika Monument, commemorating the historic conference between the two continents, and Gedung Merdeka. This historic building housed the event and is now home to a museum.

Nestled at the foot of the mighty Mt. Burangrang, Dusun Bambu (which translates from Indonesian as Bamboo Village) is a leisure complex with plenty of activities. Along with enjoying the lush natural surroundings of the resort, you can fill your day with go-karts, a water coaster, a playground, and electric scooter rides.

Translated from Indonesian as “The Royal Cliff”, Tebing Keraton overlooks some of Bandung’s lushest landscapes. Hailed as a hidden gem that provides a relaxing respite from the bustle of the city, the viewpoint features a rocky outcrop with a backdrop of the dense and mist-shrouded pine forest below. Bring your camera, as the views are a must for photographers.

Lush, green, and at the heart of Halimun Salak National Park, Mt. Salak (Gunung Salak) is one of West Java’s most accessible volcanoes. The summit at 7,254 feet (2,211 meters) is an overnight trip for most. But the waterfalls on its lower slopes—including Nangka, Luhur, Daun, and Kawung—can be hiked in just half a day.
