This one day tour traces his life from city to countryside, weaving together history, heritage, and the beauty of the beloved countryside that inspired his writings. Sir Walter was born in Edinburgh - and if your tour starts in the Capital we will pass by the street of his birth in 1771. His ancestral home was the to the South of the city where he spent a significant time at a young age. The journey continues into the heart of the Scottish Borders, where Sir Walter would build his beloved and magnificent Abbotsford House, near the beautiful town of Melrose. Surrounded by rolling hills, ancient ruins, and the River Tweed, this was the place he called home - and where he penned the stories that shaped Scotland’s national identity.

Our aim to provide a great service for the customer professionally. This tour takes us to Rosslyn Chapel viewing the stunning historical architecture of this medieval Chapel. We will then make our way to the border town of Galashiels then onto the market town of Melrose including the stunning Melrose Abbey another one of Scotland’s hidden historical landmark. Also we will visit Sir Walter Scott house and the scenic Scott view. We provide a first class service on every journey with full of excitement & memorable adventure, also you can make your own tour location and flexible time all over the day. Tour will be our traditional black taxi within full Air-Conditioned & heating vehicle, Vehicle are fully insured and have full public liability insurance. All tours are priced per vehicle which can hold up to 6 passengers. Also provide any pick up or drop off in Edinburgh based location.

We take you through the archaeological skills used to identify & record heritage sites, giving you the opportunity to ‘have a go’. With ancient maps, photos of excavations & gems of information, your tours offer something different & guarantee that you will be leaving with a lot more than you started with. By taking part you will directly support local Heritage Societies & Trusts whose sites will be front & centre of your experience, taking you further than a traditional tour ever could. As a not-for-profit organisation your support will also feed back into HARP's community outreach & educational programmes, helping more people to learn new skills & engage with archeological sites & their local heritage.
