This tour is more than just a walk—it’s a step into living history. While many historic sites in Japan have been reconstructed or modernized, Seki-juku remains one of the rare post towns where the original Edo-period atmosphere is still intact. Led by a knowledgeable local guide, you’ll explore the full stretch of this beautifully preserved town, learning about the lives of travelers, merchants, and samurai who once passed through these same streets. Starting at Seki Station, the tour follows the exact route of Edo-era foot travelers, allowing you to feel the pace and rhythm of historical Japan. With no need to plan or research, you can simply walk, learn, and immerse yourself in a world rarely seen by modern travelers. If you’re seeking an authentic cultural experience far from tourist crowds—this is the journey you’ve been looking for.

This tour offers a rare opportunity to explore Ise—the spiritual heart of Japan—by visiting its most revered shrines in the traditional pilgrimage order, starting with the coastal Futami Okitama Shrine, followed by Toyouke Daijingu (Outer Shrine), Sarutahiko Shrine, and culminating at the Inner Shrine (Kōtai Jingu), the most sacred site in Shinto. Along the way, you'll discover myths, rituals, and centuries of tradition with a knowledgeable local guide who brings each site to life. You’ll walk the same sacred paths as ancient pilgrims, experience the power and tranquility of forested sanctuaries, and enjoy a peaceful break in the Edo-style Oharaimachi district, where traditional sweets and charming shops await. With deep cultural storytelling, spiritual insight, and a route rarely covered in one day, this tour connects you directly to Japan’s living heritage in a way that’s both personal and unforgettable.

The Saiku palace, a vast historical site covering 137 hectares, is where Princess Saio moved after leaving the capital Kyoto 1,300 years ago with her 500 attendants to serve at Ise Jingu on behalf of the Emperor. Designed after the image of the oxcart that Princess Saio rode in, visitors will ride in a modern green mobility vehicle (an electric golf cart that runs only 20 kilometers or less) and take a tour of the historical sites. The tour also includes a special visit to Take Shrine, tea time with Japanese sweets and Ise tea, and Heian game experience on the way to the shrine. Enjoy an idyllic ride through the historical sites of Saiku.
