- Dress in colors that blend in with the natural environment, like muted brown, khaki, or forest green tones. Don’t wear anything that will stand out or attract attention.
- Animal sightings are not guaranteed, so you’ll need patience and persistence—especially if you are intent on spotting a Bengal tiger. Don’t be disappointed if you don’t see one, as spending time in a tiger’s natural habitat is a thrill of its own.

- If you plan on camping as part of the Periyar Tiger Trail, note that at least two people are required to make a booking. The park can host groups of up to six. Children under 12 are not allowed to join.
- Bring sturdy trekking shoes, insect repellent for mosquitoes, and a pair of binoculars for birdwatching. Also consider packing leech-repellent socks, especially during the rainy season.
