Top Hermanus On the Water

Gansbaai is known as the great white shark capital of the world and is only a two-and-a-half hour scenic drive from Cape Town. It is here that we will make your dreams come true! The experienced crew will share their vast knowledge of the water world where they operate when they take you to view sharks from the surface or underwater from a cage. This marine wonderland is the closest place in the world where you can safely see these apex predators in their natural environment. Great White shark behaviour has been unpredictable since Orca predation in 2017. We work with various shark species, including Bronze Whaler and sevengill sharks.

Embark on a safari cruise in pursuit of the Marine Big 5: dolphins, African penguins, the Cape fur seal, the bronze whaler sharks, and several whale species. Over the course of two hours, you and your group will head out to where your guide knows these animals like to hang out, learning about the marine environment through guided commentary on the way.

Maximize your chances of seeing whales by embarking on a whale-watching cruise with the company that holds the most exclusive permit in the area. Feel confident knowing that the company doesn't overcrowd the boat and head for a nature reserve that has the highest concentration of whales.

Rather than just exploring the scenic nature spots of the Western Cape—this tour introduces you to the underwater world of Gansbaai. First, head out in a custom-designed boat to an area named ‘Shark Alley’. Then, descend underwater to spot several species of sharks, such as bronze whalers and seven-gill sharks, in an exhilarating cage diving experience. If you have questions—no problem. An experienced marine biologist joins you to teach you about shark identification and fascinating facts about these majestic creatures.
