When to visit

The best time of year to visit Havelock Island, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in general, is between October and May when there’s not generally too much rain. This is also a busy time on the island, and if you come between the Christmas and New Year's holidays, book your hotel well in advance. Avoid visiting during the June–September monsoon season, when much of the island’s tourism infrastructure closes down.

Getting around

The most convenient way to get around Havelock Island is to rent a motorcycle or motorscooter and drive yourself around. Bicycles are also available for rent, but the hot and humid weather isn't always conducive to cycling. Taxis and autorickshaws are also available. If you’re staying near Radhanagar Beach (also known as Beach No. 7), you can walk to plenty of the island’s best spots to eat and relax.

Traveler tips

If you're looking for a great place to try fresh seafood, head to Something Different Cafe on Beach No. 2. This spacious, popular spot serves a range of seafood curries, Indo-Chinese dishes, and traditional North Indian and Bengali fare, along with pizza, pasta, and a huge range of desserts. Even if you aren’t hungry, it’s worth stopping by for beer or cocktails in the evening.
