The Fethiye Lycian Rock Tombs are a series of ancient Lycian tombs, most notably the Tomb of Amyntas, carved into the cliffs above Fethiye. The tombs date back to the fourth century BC and are renowned for their elaborate templelike design and their remote setting high in the cliffs.
The Lycian Rock Tombs are situated on the hillside south of downtown Fethiye. The only way to reach the tombs is on foot; the uphill climb takes about 15 minutes. Walk a further 296 steps to reach the highest tomb, the Tomb of Amyntas.
The Fethiye Lycian Rock Tombs are open daily, typically from 8:30am to 6:30pm during the main tourist season (November through April). Even during peak times, the site rarely gets overcrowded. At other times of the year, the site may sometimes open later or close during lunchtime.
While you probably won’t spend more than half an hour exploring the Tomb of Amyntas itself, plan about 15 minutes to walk up the hill from the central bus station and some extra time at the top to enjoy the ocean views.
