Top El Chaltén Day Trips

Prepare to be awed by one of the most memorable vistas of the Los Glaciares National Park on this full-day small-group hike from El Chaltén. Lace up your hiking boots and set out on an 8-mile (12km), 8-hour hike across the rugged Fitz Roy Valley. Enjoy the magnificent panoramic views, but save space on your camera for the grand finale – the majestic glacial lake of Laguna de los Tres, set against a dramatic backdrop of Mount Fitz Roy.

Hike to Laguna de los Tres with a local mountain team that has been exploring and guiding in Patagonia for more than 30 years. Fitz Roy Expediciones was founded in El Chaltén in 1995, when this was still a remote mountain village at the edge of Los Glaciares National Park. This is more than reaching the famous Fitz Roy viewpoint. You’ll experience the trail with professional local mountain guides who know this landscape, its weather and its stories intimately. We keep our groups small, allowing for a more personal experience and a genuine mountain pace rather than a rushed sightseeing tour. Walk through native Patagonian forest, alongside rivers and mountain lakes, before taking on the final ascent to Laguna de los Tres and one of the most extraordinary views in Patagonia: Mount Fitz Roy rising directly above the glacial landscape.

Explore the stunning Lago del Desierto and Vespignani Reserve on this immersive boat tour and trekking experience.
