At Underberg, you are transferred into a 4 x 4 vehicle and from here you go up a gravel winding pass that is higher and steeper and much tougher than any of its Southern African competitors. All signs of human habitation disappear as you come face to face with the vast, desolate beauty of the Drakensberg Mountains.
