Definite must do, great guide!
A wonderful enlightening experience! Zamani is so knowledgeable about South African history especially about the Zulu peoples. He made our journey to the game reserve so interesting by telling us about King Shaka. The safari was great!! Even on a hot day we were able to spot 3 of the big 5! The river boat was fantastic, we saw loads of hippo pods. Sadly the crocodiles evaded us, once again due to the heat. If you are doing the day tour from Durban to the park be prepared for a long day but it will be well worth it with Zamani!

River trip, very enjoyable...
Picked up from the Cruise Port, and taken to a docking area by a very wide river. Our boat wasn´t too big comparted to some of the big barges with many more people. We saw many hippos, only in the water and a couple of crocodiles. Taken back to our ship in good time.

Hippos can be cute!
Under Africa Skies provided a driver, not a guide, which was fine because the hippo river boat company captain was excellent in telling us what to look for in the water. We all took many photos.

The game drive was great....
The game drive was great. Didn"t see a lion or lepard but did see a cheetah! The boat trip was nice, got some great pictures of hippos. It was however a long day.

Interesting wetlands tour to see hippos and crocs.
We had an incredible experience viewing the hippos at Isimangaliso Wetland Park. Our driver picked us up promptly at the ship and drove us to the Wetlands park. He brought a selection of snacks and water so we would have a comfortable 1 hour ride. The pontoon boat cruised along the St. Lucia river and the driver/guide pointed out birds, crocs, and MANY hippos. It was wonderful to see this area and its wildlife.

Excellent trip
Excellent guide/driver. Because of an accident on freeway, i missed the safari vehicle, so he drove me round the park himself and i ended up with more time on safari.

Amazing Experience with Blessing!
I had Blessing as my driver for my solo 2 day Safari in Isimangaliso and Hluhluwe Imfolozi, and can say that his expertise and knowledge truly enhanced my experience. In addition to having an amazing skill to spot various animals, he was also able to add local culture and history to the tour which enhanced the experience. He was also willing to answer my questions, which is something I feel you can lose in a bigger group.
Additionally, it was great to have the freedom to move around our schedule to make sure I was able to see everything that this tour has to offer.
Furthermore, I found this experience better than others who have done similar trips. All of my accommodations, park tickets, and meals were pre-planned which made the experience must less stressful.
Would highly recommend this experience to anyone who is in the Durban area.

Location good, accommodations were not.
There were 3 of us travelling together and at Hluhluwe, we were the 3 on the game drive. The guide was great and we saw a Cheetah. We also so many hippos on the boat ride.
We did not realize that Islmangallso was a drive-thru so we were with our driver not a guide. He tried very hard to ensure we saw some animals.
My biggest complain was the accommodations. I booked this separately from my family members. I informed the operator that we were travelling together. I never asked to be put in the same unit as them. There were a lot of stairs which were difficult to someone in our group. The office closed early so we were not able to get the internet password. We were not informed in advance about load shedding (Power outage). There was one candle provided for three people. I emailed the operator that evening but never received a response.

Lots of fun
This tour was so good as there was a lot of information given historical wise and as well nature wise. At the NP I was able to watch how a lioness had catch a prey. At the wetlands the Hippos had been impressive and how close we got to them. We even saw a small crocodile which is rare on such temperatures. And hypes of birds. As a Kingfisher, Fisheagle, weaver birds, ect.

Pleasant boat ride
Learned a lot about hippos. Saw lots of hippo families up close, mostly underwater. Only saw two birds and one Nile crocodile.

Great excursion with an even better guide.
The boat trip looking at all phases of hippo life was amazing. Photo opportunities were in abundance.

Wetlands Cruise
The tour got us up close and personal with Hippos and the many species of birds in the wetlands. It was both interesting and educational for me and fun for many of the younger members on the trip. We were also able to stop in St. Lucia for shopping and exploring. The trip was well worth. Although it was a long ride to the wetlands, our guide provided a narrative that was very interesting. He was knowledgeable and extremely friendly.

When to visit

- Check the map before you go. The park is accessible for self-driving, but knowing which areas to focus on will help you make the most of your time.
- Don’t forget your swimsuit. The park includes a long stretch of coastline on the Indian Ocean, and Cape Vidal becomes a beautiful beach at low tide.
- Watch out for your food! Monkeys are common throughout the park, and many will go after unattended snacks.
- Be aware of the wildlife and make sure you follow all park signage when observing the animals.
