Pickup from your Hopkins Village hotel or rental at 7:00 am, then inland through the Maya Mountains. You hike 45 minutes through broadleaf rainforest, crossing the Roaring River three times on foot, before swimming a short stretch into the cave mouth. Inside, your licensed guide leads you past calcite formations, ceramic vessels and ritual offerings, up into the Cathedral where the skeletal remains known as the Crystal Maiden rest in place. This is an active archaeological site under government protection, and access is restricted to certified guides only. Great experience in ATM cave with Dimas!

Dimas was a fantastic guide! He was incredibly knowledgeable and patient. We are not athletic and were nervous about the cave. Dimas did a great job telling us where to step and how to safely get through it. The inside of the cave was unreal, unlike anything we ever have seen. You are so close to the relics, and it feels otherworldly! Definitely a must do in San Ignacio!

A must do in Belize!!

Magdeleno was a great guide. This is an absolute must-do! It exceeded every expectation I had and was one of the most incredible experiences of my trip. It was definitely more physically challenging than I anticipated, but every step was 100% worth it. The adventure is unlike anything else, and the payoff is unforgettable. One tip: bring a pair of thick socks, as you'll be walking without shoes for a significant portion of the tour. Trust me—you'll be glad you did!
