Well worth the money had an amazing tour guide who took us not only to what others saw but also where he had been before. A full on day well worth it. A lovely lunch and drinks through out the day. A 5 star rating

Not as described - do not book

First off let me say that this is no way a criticism of our guide/driver whose name we can't remember. I think it began with an H. There was only two of us on the trip. This tour was not as described. We could have booked a cheaper tour but picked this one as it included Skeleton Coast and Cape Cross as well as Spitzkoppe. Unfortunately, we got to see neither Skeleton Coast or Cape Cross. We mentioned this and we were told by the driver guide that they don't offer it any longer due to the distances involved from Swapkomond. Frustratingly, this was the tour we booked and it was never communicated to us in advance. I wonder if they took our money and amended the trip just to avoid a longer and more expensive trip (fuel, time plus entrance and permits) and then just decided not to take us but didn't tell us otherwise we would have cancelled. Instead, after a very short trip in Spitzkoppe (less than two hours, one hour of which was for lunch) we went to the Moon landscape and a brief stop in the area of Goanikontes. Frustratingly, we had already see the moon landscape 2 days prior and had no interest in seeing it again. The trip around this area and moon landscape made up the majority of the day (more than Spitzkoppe) and in essence is not what we paid to see as we had already done it. This is not the fault of the guide/driver but rather the company. What is upsetting is due to our time constraints we couldn't visit Skeleton Coast or Cape Cross on another day as we left early the next day so we missed this completely. Visiting Namibia again is unlikely for us from the UK so therefore the company are responsible for us missing something we really wanted to see. Whilst they may think we saw seals on the previous day (we did a tour the day before to Sandwich Harbour with the same company - review to follow), it is not for the company to decide to amend a trip we have booked and not tell us. The decision not to visit wasn't for safety but due to the distance (and likely cost) involved. If they don't offer the trip they shouldn't offer it or should tell us and give us the option to cancel as all our tickets and itinerary say Skeleton Coast and Cape Cross. We did not receive the advertised tour infact it did not include key parts of the trip and we have no option to go. If we had wanted the trip we received we would have booked it elsewhere for a much cheaper cost. Also AC is a necessity when visiting this area as its very, very hot. It did not work. This is the second trip we did with this company that did not have working AC in the vehicle. This means your only cool air is from opening the windows in a sandy and dusty environment. This is not ideal and makes for a very uncomfortable day.

Thank you for raising your concerns. Please accept our apologies for inconveniences caused. The core problem however seems with You BOOKED THE WRONG TOUR. You can book the Skeleton coast Cape Cross Tour, or the Full day Skeleton Coast Shipwreck Tour. It seems THIS IS the Tour you SHOULD HAVE booked. You however booked the Spitzkoppe Tour. Similar Route different direction. We offer two variations of our Spitzkoppe tour, both include two half day tours in one. We have the option of going up the Skeleton coast to the Cape Cross Seal colony then on to Spitzkoppe, or if you have all ready visited Cape Cross we can go through the Moonlandscape Welwitschia plants to Spitzkoppe. Johan the guide asked you about the options on leaving Henties bay. You told him you had seen the Seals the previous day and you don't need to see the seals again. Going to the seals from Henties is only 60KM, absolutely no sweat to go there , whilst in the area. So we are sorry to hear that you did not exercise that option. On leaving Goanikontes you asked about the seal colony? At that stage we are very close to Swakopmund , late afternoon and some 280km from the seal colony. You booked this tour late and or last minute, as you were happy about the Seals and Sandwich Harbor tour with Rudy, as Rudy mentioned that you want to do Spitzkoppe with us. We were so glad to hear it. We did not speak to you , nor knew you had other wishes and you did not call our office seeking advice , we would have gladly advised you to book correctly. Wir haben uns für diese Tour entschieden, da wir möglichst viel sehen wollten. Und wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Punkt 8 Uhr morgens holte uns Uwe an unserem Hotel ab und von Beginn an waren wir von unserem Guide begeistert. Er brachte uns nicht nur zum Henties Bay, der Seerobbenkolonie und zur Spitzkoppe, sondern erklärte uns alles zur Geschichte Namibias, den Traditionen der Südwester und den angefahrenen Natursehenswürdigkeiten. Für uns ist es ein unvergesslicher Tag gewesen. Wir würden die Tour mit Uwe wieder buchen und wenn wir nicht weiter mussten nach Südafrika, hätten wir noch eine weitere gebucht. Wir haben einfach viel mehr gesehen und mitbekommen als wenn wir alleine unterwegs gewesen wären. Und vor allem hat es mit ihm richtig Spaß gemacht. Für das leibliche Wohl hat er auch gesorgt mit kühlen Getränken, Snacks und Brötchen. Überall da, wo wir Fotos machen wollten, hat er angehalten. Der Tag mit Uwe war ein absoluter Highlight unserer Namibia-Reise!!!
