Marcus was very engaging and gave a great overall history of Singapore. We covered a lot of territory both historically and physically as we ate through 3 cultures. Many photo ops which Marcus kindly took advantage of as there were 5 of us. Plenty of food, almost too much, so consider this as dinner. We also enjoyed taking the metro, which was a pleasant experience even at rush hour. We all agreed we would recommend this tour and enjoyed all the sights and sounds.

Brilliant guide, great food, three culturally different areas of Singapore, guided advice on how to use the MRT if it’s your first time, information about the city state itself, plus lots of witty comments and nice conversation. William is a charming funny man who ensures his guests have a superb experience!

This was a perfect tour, with an exceptional guide, John Tan, for our first afternoon in Singapore after arriving in the morning from the US. Our affable guide was very knowledgeable not only about the food, history and cultures of Singapore but of history and politics of the world. Thank you, John!

It was a great tour. Not only did we have delicious food we learnt so much about the area of Singapore the tour took place in. Chingmeng was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable. I would thoroughly recommend this tour.
Lisa_S, Feb 2026
We had a great experience traveling to various culinary regions of Singapore. Tend Ching Meng and Darren were great host/guides for our tour. Great tastes of the region and a sufficient amount of tastings to fill us.

Marcus covers it all in this three-hour food tour. While food is a guiding theme, Marcus offers interesting historical, architectural, ethnic and cultural insights. For example, he pointed out that the central Mosque, home to Singapore’s abstinent Muslims, is partially made from beer bottles! Then, bringing us into private restaurants as well as Hawking Centers with Michelin Star offerings, he arranged for us to enjoy delicious dishes that we surely would not have known to try. In addition, Marcus transported us via the sleek, modern subway system and gave us a full understanding about underground travel in the Lion City. On a personal note, after a day of siteseeing we told Marcus that we wanted to get foot massages, and he escorted us to his recommended locale, where we had great 1-hour foot massages for Sing $25 each. A fantastic way to end out siteseeing day! I strongly recommend you spend an afternoon with Marcus. (Note: don’t make the mistake that I did and eat too much in the first restaurant stop—leave lots of room for the great food tour follow).

We are so grateful to have met Ngoh on our first trip in Singapore.
He was an amazing guide who helped us get a taste of Malaysian food, Indian food, and Chinese food. Additionally he was very personable and we had such wonderful conversations with him during our tour.
We would highly recommend this experience if you have half a day to spend in Singapore!

The food was similar at each venue
The guide ordered the food without any input from us
The guide was not engaged with us and seemed bored
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Dear Catherine,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re sorry to hear that the tour didn’t feel as enjoyable or interactive as you had hoped. A food tour should feel like a shared experience where there’s a bit of conversation, curiosity, and discovery along the way, so we understand how disappointing it must have been if it felt distant or repetitive.
Part of the joy of these tours is being able to explore flavors together and feel involved in the choices, so we can see why it would have been more enjoyable if there had been more interaction and variety during the stops.
We appreciate you being open about how the experience felt from your side. We hope you’ll consider giving Withlocals another chance in the future so you can experience the warmth, energy, and local connection that our tours are meant to offer.
Kind regards,
The Withlocals Team

Ron was fantastic. The tour went far beyond just hawker food: he wove in Singapore’s history, culture, and everyday life in a way that made everything feel connected. His knowledge and perspective enriched our entire trip.
Philip_H, Feb 2026
Our thanks to Stephan for organizing our food tour around Lunar New Year. You engaged the history of the people, the religions, and foods along each of our stops. We visited street market stalls, hawker centers in Little India, and a vibrant, bustling Chinatown readying for the New Year. The use of the MRT was easy with your guidance. We recommend this tour for a ‘taste’ of Singapore!
Carole_C, Feb 2026
This tour involves a tremendous amount of walking. Rather than a tasting tour, it is a history tour of the three sections of the city in Singapore. William, our guide was excellent in his historical presentations however, we walked from one section into another and then had to take a subway, at our own expense, to Chinatown. Although we did taste food from the different sections, I would not recommend this tour for senior adults. Additionally, we had to meet downtown and get our own transportation back to our hotel.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Dear Carole,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We truly appreciate the balanced way you described it, and we’re glad to hear that William’s knowledge and storytelling stood out to you.
At the same time, we understand that the physical pace and logistics of the tour made it less comfortable than you would have liked. When exploring a city like Singapore, distances between neighborhoods can add up quickly, and if the experience feels more demanding than expected, that can take away from the enjoyment. Comfort and ease are especially important when traveling, and we completely understand your perspective.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts so openly. We hope you’ll consider giving Withlocals another chance in the future, so you can experience the warmth, care, and authenticity that we strive to deliver in every tour.
Kind regards,
The Withlocals Team

Excellent tour with many interesting food and historical and contemporary bits about Singapore along the way. Highly recommended.
Lorraine_S, Jan 2026
We had a fabulous food tour with Royston. He took us around the three districts to sample a huge variety of food and drink, while taking into account our dietry requirements. We would not have known where to start on our own and would have felt quite intimidated so it was fantastic to go around with Royston who had so much local knowledge. It was so much more than just a food tour as we learnt so much about the different areas. He also took time to advise us on attractions for the remainder of our holiday. We would highly recommend this trip, thank you Royston!

We enjoyed our time spent with Ron. We spent 2 hours and 20 minutes of a 3 hour tour on the beginning part of our tour in the Maylay part of town (also called “Arabic Town”). This part was excellent, and the excessive (?) time spent could be because we asked too many questions. Because of that our time in India Town was extremely short. Ron redeemed himself in. Chinatown where he stayed well past the tour end time. Overall we enjoyed the tour.
Sylvia_P, Jan 2026
Stefan went out of his way to accommodate our food allergies. We had a great time and left very full.
Victoria_T, Jan 2026
Great insides to the history, local life and traditions. It felt immersive and informative, not just sightseeing. A great way to truly understand the city and its multicultural identity.
Emma_O, Jan 2026
We did this food tour as a family on our first trip to Singapore. Guide messaged beforehand to confirm where we wanted to go and any dietary restrictions, I made sure to tell him I was gluten free but was happy to miss out on a few options, I also gave him a list of markets and specific local dishes we wanted to try.
However, upon arrival he had ignored all those messages, forgot I had dietary restrictions, and ignored all requests for specific places or restaurants.
He clearly does this exact same tour every time and although they offer “customisation” there wasn’t any.
He touched every piece of food before handing it to us which may be a cultural thing but was a bit gross. He told a lot of irrelevant long winded stories that turned from food related to completely off topic and made it an unnecessarily long tour. Went from 3hrs to 5hrs because of how much he talked.
I specifically asked in person to not take us to the tekka market as I had heard of many people getting food poisoning there, but he fully ignored me and took us there anyway.
He ignored most of our questions and just stuck to his prepared script.
Overall we had a bad experience and wouldn’t recommend this tour.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Dear Emma,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand how important it is for a private tour to feel attentive, well prepared, and responsive to what guests share in advance. When preferences and needs are communicated, the experience should naturally flow around them and feel personal rather than fixed.
Withlocals tours are designed to be flexible and shaped by the guest, with hosts adapting the route, pacing, and food choices where possible. Clear communication, respect for comfort levels, and thoughtful handling of food are all essential to how these experiences should run.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective. Feedback like yours helps us stay focused on delivering smoother, more guest led experiences going forward. We hope you will give us another chance to show you our true value in the future.
Kind regards,
The Withlocals Team

I booked this as a Christmas present for my friends during our stay in Singapore and boy did it exceed expectations. John Tan is so knowledgeable about not just Singapore itself but the cultures, food and history. We had a great time exploring three different areas and a wide array of food and drinks. John was friendly but professional and passionate about what he does. Recommend to do this early in the trip as there’s so many tips to carry into the rest of your trip
Sharon_K, Jan 2026
Ron lead us on an authentic tour of Singapore. The tour didn’t just include food tastings but an insight into the history of Singapore and the everyday life of Singaporeans.
Our family tour group of 5 ranged from 11 yr old to 75 yr old and Ron managed to relate to each member of our family. He was very accommodating to the more elderly in our group. As well as providing us with tips on how to navigate around Singapore using the MRT.
Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed our tour and would highly recommend Ron as a tour guide.
Thank you Ron you helped to create some wonderful memories of Singapore for our family.

A fantastic food tour. Great as a fast visit but also as part of a multi day visit to Singapore. Jon our guide adjusted the tour as we needed and gave as us a great sampling of Chinese, Malay and Indian food. Highly recommend doing this tour.
Anne_S, Dec 2025
Awesome tour guide. Best tour I have been on. Arthur is very knowledgeable and great to tour with. Too much great food.

Jon Xu our guide took us through a wonderful experience of food and culture of Malaysia,Little India and Chinese. He was very knowledgeable and informative. And deserves the rating.
Jenny_m, Dec 2025
Amazing tour! Marcus was wonderful. Ask for him. We thought we were just going to try some food but we got much more than that. We also got a tour of Arab Street, Little India and Chinatown. Marcus had so much information for us. Truly a learning experience about the culture and history of Singapore. Highly recommended.
Wendy_F, Dec 2025
This is a must-go tour with Arthur who combines anecdotes, history, culture and the most amazing food into a most memorable experience. We've been on dozens of food tours around the world, but Arthur made this the standout among them all. It was not about just tasting food, it was about experiencing it the right way. He also carried plenty of wipes for tables and hands! If you are looking for the absolute best Singapore tour - sign up for this one with Arthur.

For first time visitors to Singapore, my friends and I enjoyed this experience. Our guide (I forget his name) is excellent! This was truly private, and he took note of food allergies and directed us to safe foods. The tour included history and culture, he answered our questions, and was engaging. We took several tours on our vacation (Bangkok, Singapore, then Bali), and all agree that this food experience is our favorite.
Kelly_M, Nov 2025
Stefan was very knowledgeable about Singapore history and was able to customize our tour on the fly based on my preferences. We tried foods we wouldn’t have tasted otherwise.
PATRICIA_W, Nov 2025
Michelin star dishes in a food court. Amazing! Marcus was an informative and considerate guide accommodating my personal needs. Found gluten free options. When my feet hurt he found me a seat and brought selections to me. He even added a MRT subway tutorial. Excellent guide.
Tommy_O, Nov 2025
We had a great time. Joisse is an excellent tour guide. In addition to helping us sample many of the local food options, she educated us on Singapore’s history and current issues. Highly recommended.
Isis_B, Nov 2025
This is an opportunity to look at Singapore from a local’s perspective. The food locations were amazing and the historical background narratives were informative. I enjoyed this tour very much!
Karen_T, Oct 2025
Great insight into the 3 districts that have influenced the food and culture of Singapore. The food we tasted was interesting and tasty. However, there was far too much and although varied, a lot of it was rice, pastry, starch based. Of course if this is the traditional cuisine, that is understood but maybe smaller portions would have suited us better.
The guide was excellent in terms of his knowledge and explanations and happy to answer our many questions.
