We took this tour with Captain Don this afternoon. It was me and my girlfriend and we are both 71. Turned out it was just the 2 of us and the experience was amazing. First, the boat is small but there were very comfortable cushioned seats. We stayed dry the entire time. Captain Don was a great guide. He was so knowledgeable about the wildlife and made short stops along he way to educate us about the birds we saw giving us great details about each one. We mentioned that we went on a shelling tour where our guide, although nice, knew nothing about shells. So Don brought out a special box of shells and told us in detail about each shell and how they were formed. I would highly recommend this tour and hope you get Captain Don as your guide.

Thank you for the great review, Kevin! Captain Don is a trove of knowledge for everything about The Everglades and the 10,000 Islands! You can expect to learn something new each time you go out with Captain Don. Glad you all had a great time.

Excellent time on the water! Boated close to dolphins for most of time which was excellent. Great details on the birds and ecosystem of the Everglades!
Nice to just have a small group of 6 on boat! Highly recommend.
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Glad you enjoyed yourselves and got to see the dolphins up close. Learning about the area is always a bonus. We do like to keep the tours smaller so folks can get the most out of the tour. We appreciate you for noticing.
Thank you so much for touring with us and leaving a review.

A very nice tour of the mangrove swamp. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. We saw some ospreys nesting and other interesting birds. We looked for dolphins, but it was a little cold and they weren't around. Stop at the Hangout for lunch beforehand - great subs.

We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. We're delighted you enjoyed your excursion and got to see some of the wonderful things The Everglades holds. We're sorry the dolphins weren't out n about, as they are a special creature to get to experience up close, maybe another time if you should be able to make it back.
Always great food in the area as well. Thank you so much for touring with us!

Thank you Daniel for the wonderful trip, we really enjoyed our time and learning about the wildlife! The dolphins playing in the wake was awesome! Highly recommend!

The most enjoyable parts were being out in a boat in great weather, meeting my first “live” horse shoe crab, and learning a bit more about the origins of the park/islands etc from the guide. Some of the info was already familiar to me and I’d seen other parks like the Robinson Preserve. I greatly enjoy cultural anthropology and archeology so wouldn’t mind more of that focus. Also maybe just a kayaking excursion.
Thanks again!
Response from Host, Jun 2023
Thanks for doing a review. We do offer several kayaking experiences and longer boat tours where we have more time to convey more information.
Why the poor 3-star rating?

The birds were amazing and seeing dolphins was a delight. The guide was knowledgeable but you had to work a little to get him talking.

Glad that you enjoyed the tour

Everglades National Park Dolphin, Birding and Wildlife Boat Tour (2 hours)
Our 1.5 hour boat tour was during a cold spell. We did see dolphins playing in the wade of the boat, bird of prey (eagle & eaglet / Osprey with its two babies) in their nests but no wildlife. Our guide gave a small lecture on mangrove, how he became an operator for the National Park and also he did identity birds & type of dolphins we were looking at.
If one decides to tour with this company, the tour boat (a high sided John boat) has 5 uncomfortable chairs and a small bench to carry 6 passengers. There are no bathroom or shade. Our 9am trip was cold with a temp of 60 degrees. Luckily, some of us had extra jackets.
The services & facility at the main office was good. There’s a parking lot, bathrooms and seating area.
All the participants were there on time but our guide was quite late. So our trip was short.
Response from Host, Mar 2022
I am sorry that you were disappointed in your experience. But, I am happy that you enjoyed the dolphins, eagles, ospreys, little blue herons, snowy egrets, white egrets, great blue herons, tri-colored herons, royal terns and swallow-tailed kites.
Unfortunately, our thermostats do not control the outside temperature. But, you were prepared and brought appropriate clothing as encouraged in your email confirmation.
The boat is a 27' x 8.5' Skiff with captains style seating that is perfect for the very shallow calm waters of the 10,000 Islands. We limit each tour to just six guests on the boat for an intimate experience.
I believe you may have errored in your statement. Your guide was not late, nor was your trip shortened. We only truncate trips for unexpected weather or customer's requests.
Hopefully, next time the temperature will be above 60 degrees.

Our guide was very knowledgeable. He was able to identify and tell us about every species of bird we came upon. He piloted us expertly through the shallow waters of the 10,000 islands area of the Everglades Park. On the way out, we encountered a line dolphin who was in the mood to play. He surfed in our wake for a bit, and then he jumped out and twisted, splashing the captain on purpose. It was hilarious... he did it several times before turning back. Later, we spotted a fairly large flock of white pelicans. They were huge and flew very gracefully. It was beautiful and peaceful. On the way back, our guide checked in in a kayaker to make sure he wasn't lost.

Thank You an so glad you had a great time

I liked that this was a small boat for 4-6 passengers. We rode through 10,000 islands, saw dolphins and a lot of birds snowy white egret, blue heron, baby blue heron and osprey. We did get to see a mama osprey and her 3 babies in a nest. The tour guide was knowledgable and talked a lot about the mangroves and birds.
Response from Host, Apr 2021
Thanks Robin! The Everglades are a very special part of our planet. Perhaps next, you would may enjoy our signature, the Boat Assisted Kayak Eco Tour
gwen_M, Mar 2021
seeing the shell island and dolphin swimming next to our boat, guide dan very knowledgeable about area, was a little windy so did not see too much wildlife
Response from Host, Mar 2021
Thank you for taking time to do this review. The wind speed and direction, as well as, the tidal stage can influence what we encounter in the brief time that we are in the wilderness.
We would like you to come back. But, next time, please reserve the Everglades National Park Expedition. It is 3.5 hour tour instead of just 2 hours. Typically, the longer that you are in the Park the more opportunities to encounter wildlife you will have.

Wir haben mit unseren 3 Kindern diese Tour gemacht und hatten einen tollen Captain, der uns viel erzählt hat und es geschafft hat, dass uns 2 Delphine eine Zeit lang am Boot begleitet haben! Einfach nur toll!!
Response from Host, Apr 2024
We love hearing that you and your family enjoyed your time with us and got to see some amazing things, and the dolphins in the wake is really pretty neat to see.
Thank you so much for touring with us and taking the time to leave a review!
