We had an amazing experience at Poike with our guide, Cristián. Cristián is incredibly knowledgeable about a broad range of topics pertaining to Rapa Nui, and is a published historian. We learned so much from him. Plus, he is incredibly kind, understanding, and entertaining.
The hike itself is amazing. It is somewhat challenging, so it may not be a good option for all people. There was no one else on the peninsula, so you get the true feeling of being remote (perhaps the only place on the island where you can experience this). The view from the summit of Poike volcano is worth the effort of getting up there.
