Best day ever!
Best day ever!!!!!! A must at La Fortuna. I checked off a lot on my bucket list! Our guide Rene was amazing he was so knowledgeable and could spot hidden animals. We got to see Monkeys and Slots that made my trip! From the Hanging bridges, hike up the volcano, majestic waterfalls and ending in the hot springs just amazing. And the lunch was great as well. Can't say enough.

This experience was...
This experience was amazing because of the natural and our tour guide from Red Lava, Rasta and driver, Manuel. He was patient and knowledgeable about the environment. He explained everything in laymen's terms. The driver was a safe driver. We walked on 5 hanging bridges which was breath taking. A must-do. It rained during the hanging bridges part so we didn't get to see much wildlife, but being in and seeing the rain fall in the rainforest was nostalgic. It gave meaning. There was a lot of hiking during the hanging bridges but beautiful nonetheless. Also, during the volcano, lots of hiking. I suggest wearing hiking closed toe shoes. Lunch was a great break in between and it was tasty. The waterfall had a lot of stairs. Harder up than down. It was so beautiful seeing the waterfall. Bring swim shoes if you plan on getting in the waterfall to swim. The hot springs were a great way to wind down and relax your body. Overall, the experience was worth every penny, every step, every tired feeling, and every minute. I recommend Red Lava as your company of choice for this experience. I also recommend a half day for those not physically capable and for young children. It was a lot in one day. WATER BOTTLES AND RAIN JACKETS/PONCHOS a must!!!!

Amazing and so beautiful!
Incredible experience- fantastic experience with kids who are adventurous! The guides were great and the rappelling was very intense. You do have to have a slightly above average level of physical fitness as there is some tougher ladder climbing and a few short hikes. We had a great time!

A great way to experience some of the La Fortuna “must sees.”
A long day but totally worth it. Our guide for the day was Albert. He was great, and explained everything in English and Spanish as we went along. It was a very rainy day and the volume of the waterfall was too intense for swimming, but the hike down (and back up) was beautiful. We opted to hang out in the café to dry off a bit because it was pouring rain, before we continued on to the Arenal volcano hike. Even in the rain, it’s worth doing the hike to the base of the volcano, but I imagine it’s spectacular if you are lucky enough to do it on a clear day. Albert provided facts on the volcano and was constantly on the lookout for wildlife that he pointed out as we trekked. For us though, the highlight of the day was the Mistico hanging bridges. Besides the spectacular scenery and the bridges themselves, there was plenty of wildlife to see including howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, and even an eyelash viper. Beautiful place, and very easy to hike on the paved trails. We decided to skip the final stop at the hot springs because we had a day pass to one of the hot springs resorts the next day, and instead, had them drop us off at our hotel - Lost Iguana - which was very close to the Mistico Hanging Bridges. They were very flexible and agreeable about doing. Overall, a great day, and we slept like babies.

Awesome and Educational Experience
Our Sloth Territory tour was an absolutely amazing experience and one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica! We saw an incredible variety of wildlife, including several sloths—one of the most memorable moments was spotting a mother sloth with her baby nestled on her belly. It was truly a National Geographic-worthy sight and something our family will never forget.
We also had the opportunity to observe a toucan up close and capture amazing photos and videos. There is no way we would have spotted many of these animals on our own. The high-powered telescopes used by the guides made all the difference and allowed us to see details we never would have noticed otherwise.
Our guide, Jason, was outstanding. His knowledge of Costa Rica's ecology, wildlife, plants, and culture added so much depth to the experience. He was passionate, engaging, and eager to answer questions, making the tour both educational and entertaining.
If you're visiting the La Fortuna area, this tour is a must-do. The combination of incredible wildlife sightings, expert guiding, and a deeper appreciation for Costa Rica's unique ecosystem made this an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

Book this tour!
The views were amazing and the tour guide, Chris, was always on the lookout for different animals such as lizards, spiders, frogs, toads, and snakes. We are a family of four (12 year old and 15 year old) and this was great. The Arenal Volcano hike was super cool. We found lava crystals and small lava stones. The buffet lunch was delicious. The hot springs were the best way to end the day. The grounds were well kept and plenty of pools to choose from. If you’re coming to La Fortuna I highly recommend this tour. You won’t regret it.

The Best Day! Monkeys, Birds, Sloths, Food, Waterfall!
This was one of the best days! Val was our guide and she was AMAZING! We visited during rainy season and so we prepared for the rain and planned on making it the best day regardless of weather. While it did rain some in the morning, it cleared up and had the best time. Bring a rain coat or poncho! Each location has a nice bathroom. We started the day on volcano hike and learned all about the volcano. Then we ventured to the waterfall, both driver Alberto & Val were always trying to find birds or animals on the drive for us to see. We stopped before the waterfall and saw a beautiful hawk & toucan. The waterfall was beautiful but due to all the ran, it was too rough therefore we couldn't get in for a swim. We did prepare with water shoes. We brought a small water resistant back pack. I would highly recommend this but put your passports in plastic bag or protest them! We did not and ours did get a little damp. We brought a change of clothes in case we did swim, we wore our swim suits under hiking clothes. Lots of steps down to the waterfall and back up. We had a group for the first two excursions and then the family left as they did not book the full day. It was just myself and my wife for the rest of the day. Val took us to lunch, it was THE BEST lunch at Casa Luna! The food was soooo good. The weather cleared up, we really enjoyed this time. Then we all ventured off to the Hanging bridges. Again Val stopped because the Volcano cleared for the best pics and she also spotted a sloth! Hiked all through the rainforest, saw many more animals, monkeys...etc. We brought natural bug spray but didn't need it, however be prepared just in case. The hanging bridges were fun too! Highly recommend this tour when visiting La Fortuna . We cannot wait to visit again!

This was a beautiful site...
This was a beautiful site however, a long trek down and back up!
We are in moderately good shape for our age (seniors) and had to stop several times on the stairs back up to the top.
There are other waterfalls with better access and just as beautiful.

Amazing wildlife tour
It was a long bus ride from La Fortuna (probably 2 hours) but well worth it. Easily the best tour we have gone on in Costa Rica. We saw over a dozen caimans, a dozen bird species, iguanas, JC lizards, slider turtles, a sloth, a howler monkey, and a troupe of white face monkeys. And the lunch after the tour was excellent. Our guide David was excellent.

Cocao to Chocolate from start to finish
Grexel was the most enthusiastic guide, we loved her! She and her team showed us how cocao turns to chocolate in all its various stages (including tastings at each stage). It was super fun and cool to learn the process and we were full from all the chocolate we ate!

Great experience for families!
We loved this river safari tour! The guides were professional and friendly, and the experience was organized and easy from pickup to drop off at our hotel. The boat is a smooth ride and easy (the guides do most of the paddling) but your feet will get wet. We saw sooo many animals, including howler monkeys (a group jumped across the river right over our boat), crocodiles, iguanas, bats, and many species of birds. Our guide was great keeping our kids (ages 6 and 8) entertained. The boat ride itself is about 2.5 hours and they had a snack (tortillas/cheese/plantains) and chocolate tasting at the end. A really great family activity in Fortuna!

Rainy but Magical Arenal Adventure
We had an amazing rainforest hike at the foot of the Arenal Volcano, followed by a relaxing visit to the hot springs. Our guide Joseph was fantastic — full of energy and incredibly knowledgeable. Thanks to him, we spotted a sloth right at the beginning of our tour!
The hike itself was rainy, but still unbelievably beautiful. Unfortunately, we couldn’t see the volcano because of the weather — that’s nature for you.
To end the day, we soaked in the hot springs, which was absolutely wonderful. A perfect finish to a great adventure!
