Riccardo gave us an awesome tour of Madeira. He is born and bred there, so he certainly has deep roots, lots of knowledge, and understands the culture. He speaks well and is really down to earth and a generally very nice fellow. We also met his brother/business partner Diogo. They make a great team and really know how to entertain you on your tour with extensive knowledge, customs and general all around details about Madeira. They took us to the best spots for magnificent views of the city, the top of the mountain and showed us up close the Banana and Grape growing areas. You will not be disappointed!!! Give them a chance and you will be very pleased with your experience!!!!

PR-1 You Have To Do It!

Not for the faint hearted as there are places where the drop is huge and you are not far from that drop, but you soon get used to it and then the experience, views and overall challenge of this hike becomes very, very rewarding. I loved every minute and believe everyone who comes to Madeira should experience this hike.

Wear a waterproof jacket and shoes with good treads

It’s September and down in Funchal is was a beautiful day. We were shocked that it was so cold on top. Even though I had a light jacket the guide scrounged a winter jacket for several of us on the right. My husband had a rain suit back at the hotel but we never dreamed we’d need it. The wind was grueling. It was so wet that we could wring our clothes out. Not everyone made it all the way but you should definitely do this tour. We were up in the clouds and it was like walking on the top of a mountain. It was the best thing we did on this island. My advice bring a warm jacket that is waterproof if you can even if it’s beautiful at your hotel. At age 62 I made it all the way but some people could not go all the way. You should be in decent shape. Also wear shoes with good grip. Some of the rocks are slippery. When you get to the point where you see the gate …turn around…take a picture. This is where all the Google pics of people posing are. This is the hike you will remember your whole life….I guarantee it.

Amazing tour!!!!

Horst (sorry if not spelled right!) and Fransisco were great guides. Horst knew everything you could possibly think to ask him and was so passionate about the animals. I think he explained in detail about everything we saw in about 5 !? Languages. I am quite nervous on water but I felt really safe and secure on the tour, especially because the guide was so knowledgable about the animals. It was such a great tour and experience. A great day! The tour was wonderful and having the roof off the top of the jeep was so fun! Be sure to book the levada walk when they message you so you have the QR code before it sells out. The walk is super easy, but so cool and the view is great! Even added in a secret location because we had a little extra time! Definitely recommend if you don’t have a car to check out these locations!

Superb Tour of West Madeira!

What a brilliant way to see the west side of this beautiful island! We had an amazing day out visiting various points of interest. Our host Neli was fantastic, very friendly and knowledgeable. My 7 year old loved the shortcuts where we got to stand up in the open-top jeep! Other highlights included the thrill of standing on the glass floor at Cabo Girão, having a wander in the misty Fanal forest, and swimming in the volcanic pools at Porto Moniz. Would highly recommend this tour!

A perfect day exploring Madeira with Miguel

We had an amazing day exploring the west of Madeira with Miguel! He was right on time, incredibly kind, funny, and an absolute gem. His knowledge of the island is truly impressive; he taught us so much about Madeira’s history, local traditions and beliefs, nature, and even how to tell the different types of eucalyptus apart! He took the time to explain everything in detail and made sure everyone was engaged. What we appreciated even more was that he slightly adapted the itinerary because we had already visited a couple of the planned stops. Instead of sticking rigidly to the schedule, he wanted to make sure we got the very best out of our day, which we really appreciated. Miguel made the whole experience fun, informative, and unforgettable. I 100% recommend this tour, and if I ever come back to Madeira, I will definitely book another day with him. Thank you, Miguel, for such a fantastic experience!

Roadtrip to Madeira mountains

This is a roadtrip to the area surrounding Funchal in a jeep. You will be seated in the back of a jeep: and need to be able to climb into and out of it. The position can be uncomfortable if you have knee pain or other leg issues , definitely not good for customers with mobility issues. The road trip was a lot of fun as you travel inland thru roads, narrow streets, up steep slopes and eventually off-road thru a forest! We enjoyed our tour of Madeira! Wish there was more information with the trip, like data about the island and since when it was inhabited, etc.

Gorgeous day on the water

Great communication from On Tales up through the morning of the cruise. Had about ten people on the boat during our 10:30 expedition - everybody fit more than comfortably. Beatriz and Bruno were friendly, knowledgeable and skilled and were very up front with the days conditions and expected sightings. Cruised off Calheta for a while chasing a few dolphins which we managed to see, although they were feeding at the time and not in a bigger school. Lovely ride across long, gentle waves along the scenic south coast. Stop near Porta Do Sol for some swimming and the place lived up to its name with the sun in full effect. Refreshments during the cruise and full access to all areas of the boat. Even with minimal dolphin and whale activity it was an exceptional day on the water. Highly recommended especially if you prefer a smaller group setting than the larger tourist boats!
