alejandro’s surf school has been one of the best parts of my trip so far. roy was my instructor and was so patient and helpful!! alejandro is SO welcoming and friendly and made us feel like family right away. 10/10 absolutely recommend for a great vacation!!!

This was absolutely the best way to experience surfing for the first time. The water is relatively shallow and the waves are gentle, but big enough for some good surfing. I tried surfing on my own before this, but could never catch a wave. With the guides help I caught nearly every one I went for. The guides speak good enough English to give good advice ( I do not speak Spanish). My friend and I each got a private instructor who came into the water with us to help guide the board. 10/10 experience.

Such an awesome experience to learn to surf in another country but Costa Rica and in Manuel Antonio is super special in my opinion. Then again that's my experience and I know no other. Alejandro was great to work with and his staff were very helpful. I was able to get up on the board my first time and everytime throughout the lesson. It was helpful to go over the movements in advance on the sand before getting into the water. The 1-on-1 lesson is the way to go for sure. I received direction on when to paddle and when to get up which definitely led to my success. I had a great time and world highly recommend this activity to anyone.

Alejandro and the instructors were amazing! Overall expierence was great, seperate private instructors for me and my girlfriend both of whom both patient and helpful. My girlfriend had never surfed before and was getting up after 10 minutes in the water. My instructor took me out to the bigger waves (which were actually large, lots of local surfers out) and helped me pick / ride those. The surfing at the beach is great and Alejandro and his team are top notch, definitely recommend.

After reading many reviews I decided to book with Alejandro and I am glad I did. We saw many people offering lessons along the beach but none could compare. From the prompt on time pick up at our hotel to the instructors (one for each of us) ready for us on the beach when we arrived, the entire experience was top notch. Both of my kids were able to stand up by the end of the lesson and had a great time. The instructors were patient and engaging. We were given beach chairs with a canopy to use for the day after our lesson along with boogie boards for the kids on a quiet section of the beach. We had fresh fruit and water as well. The entire team was fantastic. I would definitely recommend!

Alejandro and his team were very encouraging and upbeat with our kids (ages 10, 14, and 16). Each of them had their own instructor to teach them and help them in the water which was nice. All 3 got up on the boards right away and loved it. We enjoyed watching from the chairs and canopy Alejandro provided our family and continued to use even after the lesson was complete. Fruit and water for the kids after was a bonus. Would highly recommend!

Can not recommend this enough! Excellent communication beforehand and everything was exactly as they listed. We are very much beginners and had such a wonderful afternoon. Please don’t be intimidated as a beginner and if you are an advanced surfer-they were giving lessons to several advanced surfers as well.
Special shout-out to instructors Antonio and William. They were THE best! Alejandro was very attentive and so diligent in making sure we were having a good time and pleased with our lessons.

I can’t say enough about Alejandro and his staff. So great to have 1:1 instructors that make you feel safe and comfortable. My youngest was very scared to try surfing and they matched him with someone who was so encouraging that by the end it was his favorite thing to do there. Alejandro cares about his customers and their safety so don’t trust anyone else.

Despite tickets in hand, they argued that we did not have a confirmed surfing lesson. Despite showing them the date on the ticket, they claimed it was for a different day, which we would have been home for. They clearly wanted to scam some tourists. Avoid them.

The whole team at Alejandros Surf School was great! They were very accommodating, my trip got delayed but they let me do the lesson whenever I was able to get there, regardless of when I had originally booked it for. They were all super friendly and let me hang out with them afterwards while I waited for a tour pickup.
My instructor was Ricardo and he was awesome! He was patient and didn't let me give up, he pushed me to try bigger waves like it was nothing! Would definitely recommend any one of the team members there.

I was so happy with my surf lessons! Ricardo was my teacher and it just was an awesome experience I guess I didn’t know what to expect but he made it easy to understand and helped me to catch some waves my first time out !

This experience was terrific! Alejandro, my surf instructor Kenneth, and others I met at Alejandro's Surf School were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. The beach itself is so beautiful and the waves were great. I had taken one group surfing lesson previously in another country, but this 1-on-1 instruction with Kenneth helped me feel like I was really learning the fundamental skills I needed to be able to surf on my own. Their focus was on creating a fun and memorable experience for me, and they succeeded. I already plan on returning to them for more surfing before I leave Manuel Antonio. Highly recommend!
