Our, driver and tour guide, Francisco, was nothing short of friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. We started the day with horseback riding, followed by a visit to the cathedral, a little shopping, lunch at the Anamuya River (be sure to take pics in the river), a cigar shop, a typical house, and the beach. It was a welcomed, reasonably-priced getaway from the resort.

Our guide Francisco made the tour very fun! His communication was great and he was punctual with picking us up from the resort. The van was clean and the air conditioning felt like an Arctic blast which our group appreciated. Our first stop was to ride horses. While I did not participate, my son and husband enjoyed it. We enjoyed seeing the locals and touring the city. We got to experience going through an actual market where everything is fresh (my son was shocked to see the skinned cow heads and chickens). My favorite part of the experience was going to the restaurante, that chicken, rice and beans was so delicious! Overall the trip was good. I would highly recommend.

Great experience with my family they are very knowledgeable and accommodating. My husband even left some stuff in the van and they brought it to us the next day!!! couldn’t ask for a better day

First, the communication was horrible from the person that accepted the booking and provided to the driver. When paying, we was limited with pick up spots. I chose a place close to where I was actually residing. I shared that I was at a place next door. The driver contacts me the next morning and has no idea where I am at. Plus, I was told originally to be ready at 7:30 am but the driver was contacting me at 7:00 am for pick up. I felt the tour was rushed. It felt like we was being rushed from a sales pitch to a new sales pitch. We ended up getting a late start because of the lack of communication from the company and its driving team. We was not the only couple to experience this issue. We only was able to spend about 20 - 30 minutes at each location. We was unable to go inside the church because mass was being conducted. I understand that is not the fault of the tour itself. My suggestion would be to offer more opportunities for nature landscape photography. We didnt receive any opportunities to take pictures of nature. As I said we mainly was just rushed from one sales pitch to another. Finally, the driver drove like a mad man. He was attempting to rush from point to point. I know he almost lost control coming around one turn. I dont want to be all negative. The two guys who drove us around were friendly. They gave us some opportunity to purchase some dominican merchandise. We got to ride some horses. Was taken to a beach and a cigar factory. It could had been worse.

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We truly appreciate both your positive comments and your constructive suggestions.
First, we sincerely apologize for the confusion regarding the pickup time and meeting location. We understand how frustrating that must have been, and we are already reviewing our communication process between our reservations team and our drivers to ensure this does not happen again.
We are also sorry that you felt the tour was rushed. Our goal is to introduce our guests to authentic Dominican culture, including local family businesses where traditional products such as coffee, cocoa, cigars, and crafts are made. However, your comments have helped us realize that we need to create a better balance between these cultural experiences and allowing more time to simply enjoy each location.
We especially appreciate your suggestion about adding more opportunities for nature photography. It is an excellent idea, and we will work on incorporating additional scenic stops and more time at our natural attractions into future tours.
Regarding the driving, your safety is our highest priority. We take your comments very seriously and will discuss them directly with our transportation team to ensure our driving standards always provide a safe and comfortable experience.
Finally, thank you for recognizing the friendliness of our guides and drivers and for highlighting the horseback riding, beach visit, cigar factory, and Dominican cultural experiences. We are grateful for your honest review, as it helps us continue improving.
We hope you will give us another opportunity to provide you with the experience we truly strive to deliver.
Warm regards,
Jhoraji Tour Operador

We really enjoyed this experience and seeing more of the country beyond the hotel area. It felt like good value for money and Francisco was a good tour guide who looked after us well.
We all loved the horseride and seeing the countryside.

A great tour that shows you some of the culture and life of everyday DR locals. Also it’s a small group trip - only 9 people were in our group. We were picked up on time, were driven to a horse ranch where we were able to do a short horse ride, visited a souvenir store and a local market in Higuey, visited a catholic cathedral, went to a cigar factory, a local river, Macao Beach and perhaps my favourite - a traditional Dominican house where we tried different fruits and learned about the production of chocolate and coffee.
Wester was a fantastic tour guide - patient, hilarious, and able to explain the culture as he drove between the stops.
Tips:
- wear comfortable running shoes as there is a bit of walking and the streets of Higuey are a bit uneven
- bring a swimsuit for Macao Beach
- have a big breakfast - lunch was filling but 7am pick up is an early start and you don’t eat until about 12noon

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Must-Do Experience!
This tour was one of the highlights of our trip! It gave us a chance to experience the real Dominican Republic through its culture, history, local traditions, and amazing people. We enjoyed horseback riding, visited the beautiful Basilica, tasted authentic cocoa, cigars, and local drinks, and had a delicious lunch. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the experience both fun and informative. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to go beyond the resort and truly experience the heart of the Dominican Republic.

Tito and Teo were great tour guides and took care of us! I enjoyed the excursion and would recommend this trip.
Lisa_F, Jul 2026
We had a wonderful and informative tour. My group of 9 enjoyed the history discussion, the Catholic Church, market, and Dominican meal included.

Robinson and Sandy were our guides, and these guys were amazing. This was one of the best tours I’ve done so far — rich in culture, food, and sights. Robinson was extremely knowledgeable about the history of every place we visited. The two of them treated us like family. Such a pleasure and an incredible experience. Definitely 5 stars! Robinson & Sandy made this tour unforgettable

This excursion was sooo much fun! Out tour guide was literally like family because he made you feel that way. The way how he went above and beyond for you and ensure you were safe was astounding! No one felt left out. It was a small group of around 15 people and when I say his attentiveness and inclusion of everyone was quite commendable. He was soo knowledgeable, funny and just a joy to have experienced. The tour is quite literally needed if you want to explore the Real Dominican Republic

Our driver was awesome and very friendly! The air conditioned van was just what we needed for this awesome trip through local areas of punta cana. First stop was horseback riding in which they give you no training— you literally arrive and hop on a horse. Then, you go to a beautiful Catholic Church, which you have to pay $1 to enter, after to a few tourist shops and to see real local markets. Then, you go to lunch and then go to a farm to look at cocoa, a cigar place, and lastly to the beach. It was great to be around the locals but boy was this trip LONG. We were gone from 7AM-2:30PM. Maybe a few stops can be cut out but overall very nice excursion!
Jada_B, Jul 2026
We made a stop at each of the places listed and was educated on cocoa, was able to make our own cigars, had a good buffet selection for lunch, picked fresh fruit, & so much more ! It was amazing

We had a great time on our Dominican Republic cultural tour with Wester. We loved how it was just a small group and included so many experiences. It was the perfect way to get out of the resort and learn about the Dominican Republic.
Lucinda_Y, Jul 2026
Wester was a great guide. You see many different things in this tour and you learn about Dominican culture.

This is a must do experience! It was really nice way to immerse yourself in Dominican culture and history. Francisco was an absolutely fantastic guide, he was very knowledgeable and communicated every step of the way. An absolute must do! Add this do your list if you’re looking for a cultural tour to do
Jasmine_W, Jul 2026
We had such a great time on this excursion. I feel like it’s a great way to see more of the country and experience a bunch of different aspects of the culture. Francisco was our tour guide and he was so awesome. He watched out for our safety and made us laugh for hours.
Laquan_B, Jul 2026
Francisco was a great tour guide. He communicated immediately after I booked, which was the night before, to give me a pickup time for my hotel. He's very friendly. Also, I liked that it was a small group. All the places we went from a short horseback ride, Bascillica, Issa farm, walk through (very fast) of a local market, the creek at our lunch spot, cigar factory and Macao beach were all great experiences for the time we had. So much to cover during the time but not leaving feeling the day was too long. I'd 110% choose this tour over again!
Tramez_S, Jul 2026
This tour was amazing! Sandy and Robinson truly made the experience fun and enjoyable. We visited so many places and got to experience everything the city had to offer. They were also very safe and professional drivers, which made the trip even more comfortable. And the lunch was also amazing.
The only downside was that the tour lasted much longer than the advertised five hours. There weren't any time limits at each stop, so the schedule ran well over the expected duration. They also were late picking us up which could be the reason they let us go over!
Aside from that, it was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend this tour.
Jasmine_N, Jul 2026
I would recommend this tour for anyone who is curious about what the DR looks like outside of the resort. My only complaint is that every stop was about 30 minutes long, and I wished at some places (like Macao beach), we were there for longer.
Our tour guide was phenomenal!
Lisa_L, Jul 2026
The tour was perfect. So many sites to provide an authentic Dominican experience. Francisco is the best! Safe and friendly driver, very knowledgeable about the island, and shared so many stories and tidbits for our enjoyment.
Michelle_C, Jul 2026
Teo & Teto were very knowledgeable guides that also had great sense of humor. We made the stops identified in the itinerary & had plenty of time at each stop. Their over all communication & timing were on point. Seeing the culture, how locals are involved in making coffee & cocoa and getting a lesson in cigars was very enjoyable. We would definitely suggest that you consider this tour if you are visiting Punta Cana.
Rhoda_B, Jul 2026
What a wonderful tour!!! We visited so many places and got to experience what Dominican Republic is really like with the locals. Francisco was so patient and kind. He even bought us an avocado from the market for us to taste. The lunch that was included was phenomenal! This tour is truly worth it with all that you get! Thank you Francisco for making this a memorable day for my family!
Tracey_F, Jul 2026
I enjoyed the culture of Punta Cana. The church was beautiful, inside and outside. The tour guide was very friendly and helpful.
Casey, Jul 2026
The tour guides, especially Robinson was terrific. He was funny, energetic and great company. While he did most of the you, his partner Sandy was also great. Seeing the Dominican Republic with them was a highlight of our trip
Jeffrey_M, Jul 2026
Hopefully you get Francisco as your guide. He was great. Very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. We felt safe with him and enjoyed his conversations. The tour is longer than the 4 hours advertised once all guests are picked up and dropped off. Overall, it was a good mix of activities and gave us a great snapshot of DR life. Definitely recommend.
Sona_A, Jul 2026
Everything went well. We learned so much about the culture and the day was absolutely beautiful. ROBINSON is the best guide/driver. If you want the best experience request ROBINSON!!
