The trip was just as described! It left on time at 9am and we were back in Barcelona at 3:10pm. Francisco was great at giving us the history of Monserrat and also offered tips on things to do in Barcelona. The sights in Monserrat are amazing and a must see. The funicular is also great and saves a lot of time.

Afternoon escape

Dana_B, May 2026
Lovely way to escape Barcelona for an afternoon. Beautiful landscape and the guide (Marc) was very informative.

Well worth it!

ruby_r, May 2026
Great tour, well worth doing. Francisco was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable and happy to answer all questions. Very personable.

Very near perfect, amazing sites and great guide!

Shane_S, May 2026
Very informative guide, buses were clean and prompt. Very nice to have 2+ hours of free time so it's not all guided. I was just left wishing for a little more for my money; perhaps a little more time to explore and/or maybe organize with a local vendor on site for a little tasting of the local cheese or liqueur that are unique to the area. Something simple an inexpensive but keeps me from having to chase it down on my own time. The views from the top are worth it, highly recommend taking the funicular to the top once you're on site (not included).

Amazing day in Montserrat

Marc our tour guide was great. Very informative and friendly. The comfortable coach bus and having Marc as our guide was well worth the cost of the tour.

Monserrat Tour

Dwight_H, May 2026
What an excellent visit to Monserrat. The bus was so comfortable and our guide, Marc was very knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely recommend this tour. A great way to spend the day and enjoy some history and scenery. Thank you!

Montserrat Tour by Marc

Andrea_H, May 2026
You learn a bit of important Catalan history and many cultural facts. I appreciated that the tour left free time to explore on our own. Everything was well explained. This was my 4th time to take the tour and Marc was the BEST tour guide I’ve had for any tour in Spain. He not only answered all questions, but he was very patient with the English speaking audience. Give that guy a raise!

Loverly drive into the hills, must see if you’re in Barcelona, plenty of walking tracks with amazing views, well worth it

Too rush to visit the highlite of the tour

Kam_W, May 2026
The schedule of the tour made the visit of basilica and Black Madonna at the last 30 minutes; thus depleted the entire tour’s focal point. Our group had to rush inside of the basilica and barely got the chance to admire Black Madonna and the rest of the church. Then rush all the way back to the parking lot where is almost 10 minutes walk.

Very enjoyable day in Montserrat

Malcolm_E, May 2026
Great day which started a little late but was otherwise perfect. Marc was very informative and interesting, explaining Spanish history and the history of Montserrat. I especially liked that he included information about the geological features and their formation. Being a geographer I love to hear about how things were formed and I have noticed that they’re often overlooked

Good tour

Ida_M, May 2026
Good tour for a solo traveller like me. The tour guide is knowledgeable about Montserrat and is also a helpful guide.

Definitely go!!!

Chuck_C, May 2026
Definitely go!! Our guide, Francisco, was wonderful, extremely knowledgeable, responsive, and accommodating. The trip was well organized, communication was excellent, and they over delivered what they promised. I would definitely book another trip with them. Especially if Francisco is the guide. He does other tours, too (food and walking tours).

Highly recommended

Montserrat Monastery Tour

Patrece_W, May 2026
The history and traditions are so interesting and our guide Fernando was extremely knowledgeable about everything. He was extremely helpful in helping us get the tickets to hear the boys choir. There is quite a bit of walking involved, but there is an free electronic shuttle between the parking area and the Basilica.

Very good tourist set up

Charles_P, May 2026
Just follow the guide. The timescale is tight but it provides opportunity to experience most features.

Must do!!

sumbul_k, May 2026
We had such a great time and it was nice not having to worry about transport to Montserrat. The church is so beautiful and a must see if you go to Spain. Also our guide Francisco was wonderful and so helpful! He gave so many helpful tips and we learned a lot about the region.

Bring food & water

DAVID_L, Apr 2026
Quite crowded on a Saturday. Suggest bringing food and water as the restaurants are very busy. Had trouble using reward credits for the booking and customer care was not helpful at all.

Amazing views, pick your own experience

Jhoselyne_C, Apr 2026
Had an incredible time in Monserrat with Francisco. He was able to efficiently deliver his wealth of knowledge on the tour but it also allows for free time to pick your own adventure. Would absolutely recommend.

Gary_D, Apr 2026
It's an easy way to reach and see Montserrat. Guide was good and did some of the background history during the bus ride. Met the guide at 9 and the bus came. Had a walk/talk for 45 min or so after arrival, then you were on your own for a little over 2 hours free. Took the incline up and walked around the trails. Could have used an extra hour to see a couple of the other attraction like the Immersive Experience or Museum and have time for eating. Had a 1:15 timed entrance to the basilica. It was a little rush to tour it and make the walk back to the bus by 2:00.

Enjoyable day in Montserrat

Lisette_N, Apr 2026
Best to bring your own food so that you have more time for the visit. It took us about 30 minutes to buy our sandwiches at the restaurant there. We took the funicular both ways to make up some time. There is a museum with artworks by Dali, Picasso and others at the site. Unfortunately we did not have enough time to see it.

Perfect for people you...

Sera_A, Apr 2026
Perfect for people you just want a ride to and from and the rest be alone time to explore! The ride up shared lots of information.

Fantastic place to visit!

James_A, Apr 2026
On our visit to Barcelona by cruise ship, we had originally booked an excursion to go inside the Sagrada La Familia and on the day before they canceled on us. I found an excursion on Viator to go to the Montserrat Monastery. We are so happy that it ended up this way, because we loved the visit here and would definitely return.

Fun day.

Ronny_C, Apr 2026
Reached out countless times to wait for us as there was an accident just before we got there never answered or texted back.

Wonder-full!

Susan_H, Apr 2026
Marc was easy to understand, easy to listen to. He truly knew his subject and was a delightful guide to an amazing place.

Lovely day!

Nancy_R, Apr 2026
We had a lovely experience. Our tour guide Francisco was professional and knowledgeable. Make sure to see the Black Madonna. It was a great experience. Such a special and beautiful place to visit. Bring cash for the outdoor market. I was able to buy honey in a jar.

Excellent Tour

Janet_S, Apr 2026
Great tour worth doing. The site and scenery are spectacular and definitely worth seeing. The tour itself was well run, everything was on time, comfortable bus, tour guide Marc was very good.

Bad tour guide

Leena_R, Apr 2026
Montserrat is a lovely place to visit. The funicular was wild- worth taking up and doing the walk down. Only scary moment was when our tour almost left without us. Our guide, Francesco, told us told come back at 1:55pm then he said 2pm latest because bus leaves at 2:05pm. We were buying something at the little marketplace (close to bus area) but the vendor ran out of small euros so it took a little longer than we hoped to get our change back. We made it to the meeting spot by 1:58pm but saw no one. Luckily Francesco happened to get off our bus to check something so we saw him. He was shocked when he saw us. He said “I already counted 50 people!” which he clearly did not because 2 of us were not on the bus. He also interacted with the 2 of us several times during the trip so should have realized we were not on the bus (we were the only 2 South Asians on the bus). We should have realized he was not a good guide from the get go. At the 9am check in, he just stood there blending in with all the tourists so no one really knew who to check in with. He was not wearing anything that would even identify him. Also when we got to the monastery, we had less than 10 min to look inside and take pictures because they were starting mass. He knew the timing because after we got off the bus and he told us we should use the bathrooms in that area, we walked up to the monastery and he said “We’ll look around outside later, they will close soon so go inside quickly,” We had to rush inside and take a few quick pictures. Very annoying. If you take this trip, hopefully you get a better guide who uses a passenger check list and wears identifiable clothing (or uses an umbrella/stick with toy like other guides) so you can find them.
