Cooking with Milton was definitely a highlight of our trip! The location we cooked (his home) at was breathtaking, and it felt very grounding and special to handpick ingredients at the market together. We would absolutely recommend it.

If you’re considering a cooking class in Antigua, stop searching and book this one!!
This experience was easily one of the highlights of our three-week trip through Guatemala and Belize. From the moment we met Milton, we knew we were in for something special. We unfortunately ran late due to transportation issues, but he was incredibly flexible, accommodating, and gracious, immediately putting us at ease.
The experience began with a fascinating walk through the local market, where Milton shared insights about Guatemalan culture, ingredients, and daily life that we never would have learned on our own. His knowledge was impressive, but what truly stood out was the way he shared it—with genuine passion, warmth, and humility.
The property where the class took place (his house) was absolutely stunning, providing the perfect setting for an unforgettable afternoon. Milton’s son Diego was the perfect sous chef, and Milton helped guide us through the preparation while keeping everything fun and relaxed.
Every dish we made was delicious, but the experience was about so much more than the food. Milton has a beautiful aura and one of the calmest, kindest personalities of anyone we’ve met while traveling. Conversation flowed naturally, and by the end of the class we felt like we had spent the day with a friend rather than a teacher.
From the market tour to the final meal, every detail was thoughtfully planned and expertly executed. We left with full stomachs, new skills, a deeper appreciation for Guatemala, and wonderful memories we’ll talk about for years.
Thank you, Milton and Diego, for such a stellar experience. If you’re visiting Antigua, this is an absolute must-do.
I’d give this experience 10 stars if I could. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Milton the chef was the absolute best. Me and my partner were running late, but he responded very quickly when we messaged him in the app and he allowed us to skip the market tour and just meet for the cooking class. The food we made was absolutely delicious, and you could tell Milton had a true passion for Guatemalan food and culture. Learned a lot and had a great time and meal.

Best cooking experience! Not only learning Guatemalan Cuisine, we were also able to learn cooking techniques. From the fresh produce to the location, and of course Milton, and his song Diego, made the best and most incredible cooking experience. I will do it again with more friends and family in the near future. Totally recommend.

Superb. To be completely honest: we almost didn’t do this one. Whom I went with is from Guatemala, different town, but still. As such, we almost chose to just have their family teach us some stuff. I’m glad we stuck with the tour. The market in Antigua is massive. They have everything from fruits, to meats, to clothes and even spices. Milton being from the area gave us insight that we would’ve missed, had we not did the tour. The class itself was self rewarding as you get to make these delicious dishes from start to finish. Absolutely recommend, 11 out of 10. If you want to experience Antigua on a local level, this tour is for you. Try to aim for Saturday when you book, that’s when the market is full of vendors inside and out.

Wonderful experience in a cute house roof top learning to cook traditional Guatemalan dishes. Milton and his assistants were amazing and shared a lot of their knowledge including learning about local ingredients and recipes. From the market to the kitchen and later sharing sinner with a great group
of people. It was beautiful. 100% recommend Foodietenango to anyone that will want to learn about local cuisine.

This was the best experience! The market, the education also regarding fruits and vegetables unfamiliar to me. The cooking and hands on preparation with small group of 4. Food was so good, traditional, easy, simple but so healthy, so informative. I learned alot even as a long term foodie. I am definitely bringing others from my mission group to experience this specific provider next year. I cant say enough good regarding this event. Easy pick up and drop off, got to ride a tuk tuk on the return as part of the experience too. Well planned out, super organized, very clean, beautiful setting, out doors on a upper protected rooftop, so the view was superb, beautiful flowering plants all around, out in the "country" Best event ever!

Exceptional! Very well organized from start to finish. Delicious food, wonderful explanations. Perfect, beautiful space. Just a great overall experience. Thank you!!

The whole experience was fantastic! Milton gave us a tour of the central market and showed us the regional produce and chicken that he would use for cooking. We then took TukTuks to his house where he has a kitchen set up on a beautiful rooftop patio. We made appetizers and helped prepare the main dish of Pepián. The food was delicious and Milton and his staff were so friendly and welcoming! I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone!

Absolutely incredible! An experience I will compare my future travels to. If you do a cooking class here in Guatemala, this is the one! Milton is a wonderful host and chef. He made this experience really stick out with his attention to detail and with all of the bonuses he added such as the wine, his beautiful rooftop kitchen, the tuk tuk ride, and trying the local fruit we picked up at the market. And of course the food we made was authentic and delicious! Can't recommend this enough :)

We toured through the massive market and learned some really impressive things about some items there. Our instructor picked out some choice ingredients from special vendors, and then he drove the small group to his rooftop school where he and his assistant Diego shared with us some choice recipes! We had such a magical experience- the view from the rooftop was so dreamy. I cannot recommend it enough!!

Such an amazing experience! Our group of 5 girls had a wonderful time with Milton. We started by visiting the market before making our way to his beautiful rooftop kitchen. I really enjoyed that he took his time to explain the history and traditions of the meals. We were assigned small individual tasks and at the end ate everything we made. No cooking skills required and easy for beginners. We left with a full belly!

Such an amazing experience!! We walked through the local market to pick out our produce and protein and it was so amazing to see the local culture. The cooking class was so fun, we did it in his home which was so sweet and the view for the class was awesome. He is so friendly and knows what he is doing. I would book again!

This was such a wholesome experience! Milton took us to the Mercado and showed us his “go tos” and we bought some of the ingredients we were going to need to prepare our dishes. We also picked fresh fruits that we got to try as a “snack” during the cooking class. Then we took tuktuks to his home where we had the class. The setup on the rooftop was beautiful & volcano views. We were a small group and it felt so personal. Milton explained the dishes we were going to prepare and all the steps/ingredients we were going to use. We had water, hibiscus tea and red wine throughout the evening. It was so much fun and I am so grateful I was able to experience this. The food was absolutely delicious. Also I am a solo traveller and I felt very comfortable/safe/included and I got to meet incredible people during my activity.

This food experience was fabulous! The whole morning was fun, interesting and the food was delicious - Lots of it! We’d totally recommend it to anyone else who’s keen to try and learn about authentic Guatemalan food with fresh produce from the markets. Really informative, he was a great host and chef 👌🏻 thank you so much!

We had such an amazing time at the Foodietenago cooking class! Milton made the experience excellent from start to finish. We got to learn about the daily markets and followed him through them as he picked out the foods we’d be preparing during the class. He then took us to his home where he taught us about Guatemalan cuisine while showing us how to prepare each dish. The tostada we made was incredible! The Pepián was amazing. It was so nice to get a local experience and learn while cooking together in the class. At the end, Milton arranged tuktuks to take us back into town which was a nice little ending to the whole night. We highly recommend booking this class with Milton, it was a highlight of our trip!!
Amanda_H, Mar 2026
The entire evening was awesome! You start out walking through the market where Milton shows you all the different stands and you buy some of the ingredients needed for the class. Then you go back to his home on a rooftop terrace and start cooking! I went as a solo traveler and met a couple others there as well and overall it was just a really fun time. You learn a lot, and everybody gets to work together to cook TONS of food - like you might as well skip lunch and you probably won’t need to eat dinner.

Miltan was amazing! He was very informative and taught us more about antigua especially while cooking. I highly recommend experiencing this in the beginning on your trip because he gives some hidden gems and recommendations.

First time taking a cooking class, Milton was a great teacher. I learned a lot about Guatemalan cuisine. From visiting the market and cooking on a rooftop with the volcano in view was the most beautiful experience. Definitely recommend this tour! Thank you Milton

We had a great time with Milton and he was so kind to invite us all into his home. The market tour before the cooking was fun and the class itself was awesome. Learned so much!! And ate so much too!

If you’re visiting Antigua, make sure to add this to your list! I enjoyed exploring the market and cooking with Milton and his sister Andrea. I still think about the recipes and plan to try them at home. The view of the Fuego volcano erupting several times was incredible and was a highlight of my trip.
Miran_Y, Feb 2026
Milton and his sisters were wonderful during the entire cooking classes. Definitely recommended for people who are new to Antigua, Guatemala. Milton is absolutely wonderful! We really appreciated the time he spent walking us through the market and answering all our (many) questions. The cooking portion was fun and informative. We made a variety of delicious and very filling foods. Overall we had an amazing time and would definitely recommend the class!

Great experiencia: going to the market, tasting local food, learning about Guatemalan food and cooking, good company in a beautiful setting on the rooftop of the hosts familyhome. Highly recommended.

I had a wonderful experience with Foodietenango in Antigua! The day started with a visit to the local market, where we shopped for fresh ingredients and learned about traditional Guatemalan flavors and staples. It was such a fun and immersive way to begin the experience.
After the market, we headed just outside the city to a beautiful home where the cooking class took place. The views from the house were absolutely amazing—peaceful, scenic, and the perfect backdrop of Fuego for the afternoon.
We cooked pepián, tostadas, salsa, handmade tortillas, and a delicious dessert. Everything was hands-on, well explained, and incredibly rewarding to make (and eat!). Riding a tuk-tuk to and from Antigua added an extra layer of fun and local charm.
This experience was equal parts cultural, educational, and delicious. If you’re visiting Antigua and want a genuine, memorable food experience, Foodietenango is a must.
Molly_B, Jan 2026
Such an incredible experience. A must do in Antigua. Milton was absolutely wonderful. The market tour was such a special look into local life and everything was delicious.
Madison_N, Jan 2026
From learning about the heartbeat of Antigua in the traditional markets to being invited to the host’s family home to cook with him, this experience was truly a must-have from our trip!
If you enjoy tasting the soul of where you’re visiting, that is just what you will do as you explore local fruit flavors and deeply complex entrees.
We felt safe, confident, and happy to be with Milton and his family for this experience. We even chose to do this experience as part of our honeymoon and we are so glad we did!
