Top Tamarindo Surfing Lessons

Spectacular day. Miguel was driver and Santos was tour guide. Wonderful sites and staff at facilities were wonderful. beautiful waterfalls. Sloth farm was amazing. Guide was exceptional, saw many wonderful animals .La Leona waterfall was beautiful, color cool blue!

Iguana Surf didn’t disappoint and definitely lived up to our expectations. The staff were easy to communicate with and the whole business experience was professional and friendly. They were expecting us and check in was fast. Items not needed were put in lockers. Rash guards distributed, boards selected, instructor introductions made and then we were off to the beach. On shore lessons were taught in a quick but thorough manner and it was time to put those lessons to the test. The instructors kept a close eye on the group and helped where needed and constantly offered words of encouragement. Everyone in our group was looking like they had been surfing for more than an hour by lessons end. Great experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Tamarindo. Iguana Surf is the place to learn how to surf and lived up to all the reviews I had read. Hats off, literally, to the instructor who let me where his hat while out on the water. It was greatly appreciated. Just another example of how I knew that I had selected a great company to use in my search of beginner surfing. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the instructors names and for that I apologize.

We had the best time with Blue Wave Surf tours in Tamarindo. We had a two hour private lesson with Johnny and Edgar and it was just the highlight of our trip. We were able to get up and ride the waves right away with their expertise. Very friendly, helpful and supportive, lovely gentlemen. We will most definitely book again when we return. At the end of the lesson we had a massage co-ordinated on the beach and it was just the best ending to a great morning. Highly recommend.

Leandro who runs the lessons out of his Club 33 shop, is just a great teacher and guide to Tamarindo surfing! We are a family of 5. All of us learned a ton from his lesson, and we had a fantastic time in the water. Would have taken 5 lessons if we could have.

The instructors were amazing. They all fit for each of our family members. Our whole family was up on the waves and they even had us trying some small tricks like flipping. My youngest says surfing is now one of her sports. Thank you very much to the team.

Loved our guide, Leo. Made our family of first-time rafters feel very safe and he was a super nice guy. We were there in December so the river wasn’t at its peak (ie, not as fast) but still very fun. We enjoyed the gorgeous scenery during the slower sections and we had a blast going over the bigger rapids sections. There’s a spot where several of the boats tipped over but the guide gives you the option of staying tucked into the boat or staying seated on the side (which makes your chances of falling out more likely). So it’s up to you. The lunch at the end was surprisingly delicious. Only downside is that the bus ride to/from launch site is a bit long and bumpy. Still worth it.

Jonathan did an AMAZING job with us (adult and 9 year old). On the beach, he taught a lesson on what to do. Then we went to the water and he helped so much with tips and physically guiding. Both of us got up many many times and it was such a fun experience.
