Top Queenstown White Water Rafting

I am 79 and I went with my 44 year old son and we were in the front row. We had the best time. The 360 degree turns were especially thrilling. We had a great driver in Sam who responded positively to the overwhelming acclaim from the passengers. An hour was just the right length of time for this experience. You passed through various landscapes but always the Remarkables were there to remind us why they are remarkable. Highly recommended for all ages.

Captain Tyler was fantastic, with an impressive wealth of knowledge about Queenstown. This tour was a brilliant way to see some truly beautiful countryside. The bus trip from Glenorchy to Queenstown was a pleasant and scenic way to start the day, and then when we arrived the staff at the Glenorchy base were really helpful in getting us kitted out in wetsuits, boots and safety gear before we hopped on to the jet boat for a thrilling ride up the river which would have been a great day out just on its own. Switching across to the funyaks these were really enjoyable albeit sometimes being a little bit more work to keep on track, but our guides were very helpful with advice and encouragement for our journey back down the river and it was a lot of fun. Paddling through the gorge was definitely the highlight - it was stunningly beautiful and looked exactly like the photos. Would thoroughly recommend the experience, though next time would be more proactive with insect repellent to keep the sandflies away. Finally, particular thanks go to the staff both for their kindness towards the kids and for reuniting me with my phone after it fell out on the bus back to Queenstown.

The scenery throughout the trip was absolutely breathtaking — the snow-capped mountain peaks created a stunning contrast with the deep blue waters of Lake Wakatipu. Ash, our tour guide and driver, was genuinely passionate and knowledgeable. He shared a wealth of interesting background information about Queenstown and Glenorchy that really enriched the experience. The morning tea included in the tour was also thoughtfully prepared and delicious.

Must-do when in Queenstown. Did this first when I visited in February with my sisters, and enjoyed it so much, I had to take my now husband on the way to our wedding. Both of us were really nervous before the first time we both went, but the drivers are absolutely amazing (I think they said they train for 18mths before they take passengers). Ngāi Tahu tourism are an extremely professional operation, and their safety record is impeccable. They are the best for a Queenstown jet boat experience - don't skimp and go for a cheaper operator - Shotover Jet have the exclusive rights to the section of river that's best for this. So much fun - you really won't regret it (and like us, will probably want to go again as soon as you get off!)

White water rafting was an incredible experience. Our guides (so sorry cannot remember their names) were awesome and made the rapids even that much more fun. Even got an opportunity to swim a bit and do some cliff jumping. This is a very family friendly event since the rapids were only level 2/3 (not bad at all), so for first timers, this is the one for you.

What a 10/10 experience! Our tour guide was Jacob, and just like in the movie Twilight, I’m team Jacob. My dad loved it, and he’s from New Jersey, they don’t like anything. My dad also said Jacob was very friendly and knowledgeable and he felt “safe in his hands”. Personally, I felt like he projected his voice really well. Kind of like he was doing it from his diaphragm. I digress, you should do this tour, it’s great!

Awesome trip. From the check in, transportation, debriefing, equipment to the jet boat and the rafting, everything was well organised, very professional and with a lot of humour. The jet boat was fun and Dan gave us some 360 and showed a tip from the boat abilities. In the rafting part, the river was amazing and Josh, our guide, took us safely through swimming, rock jumping and rapids crossing with a lot of funny and interesting talks in between. It was perfect! Everyone in the family loved it😎
