Top Iwate Prefecture Walking Tours

Experience the breathtaking nature, food culture, and history of Miyako City on this customizable private tour with a local guide along Iwate's Sanriku Coast. Begin at a natural blowhole, where ocean waves spout forcefully into the air, before continuing to Jodogahama Beach, prized for clear turquoise waters and dramatic white rock formations, with an optional boat ride to the Blue Cave. At midday, explore Gyosai Market for fresh seafood and try Bin-don, Miyako's signature bottled seafood dish. In the afternoon, view the towering Sanno Rocks—three wave-carved pillars up to 50 meters tall—before finishing in Taro district to visit the Great Seawall and preserved tsunami memorial to learn about disaster prevention and recovery. Offered with Public Transport or Private Vehicle options, both cover the same five stops, with the private vehicle offering a more relaxed pace. Hotel pickup can be arranged, and the itinerary can be adjusted within the allotted time.
