Day Trips from Central Mexico to Zacatlan

Discover two of Puebla’s charming Pueblos Mágicos in one unforgettable experience: Zacatlán and Chignahuapan. Each town offers unique traditions, colorful streets, beautiful landscapes, and authentic Mexican culture. In Zacatlán, explore a town surrounded by misty mountains and enjoy spectacular views of the Barranca de los Jilgueros. Learn about its famous clockmaking tradition at the local clock museum and discover its connection to traditional cider production. In Chignahuapan, experience a colorful town filled with local traditions. Visit its picturesque historic center, admire its beautiful church and iconic park, and discover the fascinating artisan process behind its famous handcrafted Christmas spheres, a tradition passed down through generations. This tour brings together culture, history, craftsmanship, traditions, and breathtaking scenery, allowing you to experience two authentic destinations beyond Mexico City in a single journey.

We will visit an artisanal and family workshop dedicated to making spheres, where for decades they have made blown glass spheres painted by hand. They will tell us about the process of making these crafts, which have reached the Vatican to adorn the Chapel of Saint Peter in Italy. Also, another picturesque attraction is the Moorish Kiosk that adorns the main square. We leave for Zacatlán Magic Town, getting to know the fruit wine factory, where they will explain the production process and you can taste them. We will visit the Zacatlán tile and glass mural, unique in Mexico; Composed of thousands of pieces of glass, Talavera, and mirrors, the mural draws 12 large mosaics in the shape of an apple, and each of them displays symbols that characterize Zacatlán and that have contributed to the greatness of its people. Take advantage of a view from the Crystal Viewpoint.
