This was SUCH a cool experience! It was our favorite thing we did while visiting St. Lucia. There was so much to learn and see about how cacao grows. The included lunch was really tasty, you choose a main, two sides, a dessert and a beverage. Making our own chocolate bars was such a unique experience too!

This was a great experience to walk through the process of growing cocoa trees and actually MAKING chocolate. Our guide (John) was very informative and friendly. The explanatory and rainforest garden portions were lovely and the actual chocolate making is INTENSE—your arms will get a workout! While it was fun to have the experience of making your own, you really appreciate the difference in refining chocolate that comes with machines—our homemade bars were fun but… our hand-ground texture left a lot to be desired! The food combinations with cacao were nice, although it hadn’t been clear to me that the included lunch is either consumed BEFORE the tour (some people arrived quite early for lunch apparently) or afterwards… Bear this in mind if you are combining activities! It was also not clearly explained what the included lunch actually included… we had to ask in the food court area, and there are many options there that are NOT included/are an extra cost. The cocktails are nice and we had a fun time with the bartender but they are very much on the sweet side and are an extra $15 USD per cocktail. For my gin-loving palate, I didn’t really taste much cacao in the gin to warrant taking a bottle home.

A fabulous experience in the rainforest!

The tour was a good length so as not to spend too much time in the heat. The grafting demonstration was great and we even got to taste the cacao beans straight from the tree. Lunch was great from street food style vans with cacao worked into most menu options. The cacao mac and cheese and the cacao pulled pork burger were excellent! Staff were lovely and knowledgable. It didn’t feel too touristy or commercialised which was refreshing to see!

The experience was unforgettable. Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Our guide, Tahj, was very knowledgeable and patient. The tour is so informative learning about how chocolate was discovered to how its used all around the world today. This tour is a MUST DO while visiting St Lucia!

Great trip for most, but not all.

Patricia_K, Mar 2026
I really think that you need to add physical requirements of this trip. Steep hills. Many steps. Walking in wooded areas. I was not aware of these conditions and would have worn proper shoes. Two men had a lot of difficulty and missed parts of the trip. The tour and the guide were wonderful. Very knowledgeable. Loved making chocolate bar. The lunch options were good and delicious.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you for sharing your feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the Project Chocolat Tree-to-Bar Tour, but we also appreciate your note about the physical demands of the experience. The tour does involve walking on steep hills, steps, and wooded paths, so proper footwear and a moderate level of mobility are recommended to fully enjoy the activity. We’ll be sure to highlight this more clearly for future guests to help everyone prepare. Your insight helps us make the experience safer and more enjoyable for all.

Great afternoon learning about growing and making chocolate. Beautiful farm and knowledgeable staff. My only suggestion os please make it more clear that lunch is served BEFORE the start time. Food was great!

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you for your feedback! We’re thrilled you enjoyed learning about caca cultivation and making your own bar at Project Chocolat, and that you loved the lunch. We appreciate your suggestion about clarifying the timing of the meal—this will help future guests plan their visit even better. We’re glad you had a great afternoon with us!

The tour was informative and the chocolate was worth the effort! An interesting, fun, and delicious day!

Great Experience!

Gary_K, Feb 2026
What a wonderful morning we got to spend walking through their cocao plantation, checking out the different cocao pods and coffee plants, touring the cocao bean growing area, drying areas and so many cocao flavors of alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks along with cocao insprired food options. Making the chocolate bars definitely added to the experience of eating dark chocolate and will always be memorable afterwards.

Excellent Chocolate making experience

Stephen_K, Jan 2026
Beautiful guided tour of cocoa and chocolate production. Starts with mild hike through growing area, transitions to actual making of a chocolate bar (highlight) and finish with lunch. As with most of St Lucia there are a LOT of steps so wear comfy shoes. They supply water and umbrellas as needed The chocolate making uses a mortar and pestle to grind the nibs before adding the cocoa butter and optional sugar. Then a 25 minute chill while eating lunch and voila! Lunch has wide variety of veggie/vegan options along with fish chicken and meat. Go dairy free dessert for delicious almond bars (ask the server) Only negative is they could provide the umbrellas at check in so as to not get drenched in sudden downpour at starting point

Must do

Taj was awesome. Well worth booking this excursion. The chocolate making at the end was a perfect way to end it.

Make Chocolate!

This was a great experience. Toured the grounds where the cocoa is grown and learned about how they’re grown. During the tour you get to taste the cocoa fruit before it becomes chocolate. During the tail end of the tour you get to make your own. Great experience!

Worth it!

Neat experience! Staff very kind. We missed our booked reservation and when I realized I called and they allowed us to come the following day at no additional cost. I was very grateful

If you love chocolate...

Richard_B, Dec 2025
If you like chocolate this is not an experience to be missed. The history of chocolate making is very interesting and the tour of the plantations vegitation and plant life is fascinating. The finale is making your own bar of chocolate. It is. Hard work but worth the effort. Our tour started with lunch which was excellent. Good food and refreshments. Wonderful knowledgeable staff.

Great trip out with chocolate!

Lovely Experience!

This was such an amazing experience. Being able to walk the grounds and learn how chocolate is made, then being able to make my own chocolate bar was indescribable. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and personable. We were able to try the cacao seeds and even taste flowers in the groves. The lunch provided was tasty also. I would definitely recommend.

I did this experience on my birthday & when I say they outdid themselves, THEY MADE MY BIRTHDAY SO SPECIAL! From learning about the plantation, to trying the chocolat straight from the tree, to actually making the chocolat, it was amazing! (NO NIBS, NO CHOCOLAT) it was truly an eye opener to how chocolat is produced! ❤️

Loved it from start to finish

Dawn_M, Nov 2025
It was lots of fun learning how chocolate is made from. You’re learning the process from start to finish. Making the home made chocolaty bars hard but worth it.

Wow

Lisel_D, Oct 2025
The tour was great, start to finish. Tahj was not just knowledgeable but funny. We learned so much and tasted great cacao. The chocolate making was fun but took some unexpected elbow grease. The lunch was great anf the chicken roti was one of the best I had on the island.

My wife and I had a fantastic time at Project Chocolat - getting to tour the nursery and the gardens with Tahj really added to the experience of making our own chocolate. He was very knowledgeable about the whole forest, not just the cacao and coffee trees, and the only thing we were left time was more time exploring the grounds with him. Very worth a visit (and don't be afraid to drive yourselves - you can do it!)

Lisa_L, Sept 2025
We were fascinated in learning how the beans grow and our Gide was amazing … very interesting to see how “natural” the whole process is. Shame the lunch that was included was fast food with poor choice.

No refund.

Traveling to them is the issue! The ride is about two hours not including traffic, they didn't offer us no type of refund.
