Third and final visit, so good that I am returning for more :)

Monika_S, May 2026
This was my third, final visit to the ranch and Sacsayhuaman just before flying back to the UK in August 2025. I requested the same Peruvian Paso horse for my farewell ride as I had before (an incredibly well-natured horse), and the family was happy to oblige. When it looked like I was the only person with a booking for the day, I received a message offering a solo ride for an extra cost or cancellation. I can't remember how much that was, but it was very reasonable. In the end, an additional rider was booked for the day. We were both reasonably good riders, so we could go fast. I had already seen the Temple of the Moon, so our guide and the muleteer agreed to take us to a different site. I appreciated the flexibility and opportunity to say goodbye to the national park, the family and the horses. At the time, I did not think I would be returning to Peru; it was not planned, nor was I planning to return to riding horses. It is now nine months since I took the third and final ride with the family. Due to the wonderful experiences I had at this ranch, I returned to horse riding and feel comfortable riding a variety of horses, including a 17-hand sports horse. In addition, I am flying back to Cusco in September, with 11 days assigned for horse riding, of which 6 will be spent back at the family ranch exploring their full-day rides :) :)

Second Visit Even Better than the First!

Monika_S, May 2026
My first experience was excellent, therefore I came back and rode a bit more with the family. This time, we were a group of three, again accompanied by a skilled muleteer and a well-informed guide. The level of horsemanship and the horses remained first-class. I asked for a more padded saddle than the one I had on the previous ride. To my surprise, not only was I provided with a very comfortable saddle, but I was also given a wonderful Peruvian Paso horse. This time we went to the Devil's Balcony and had the opportunity to canter. In addition, we were also able to engage with the local community, which was wonderful. My first experience with the ranch was excellent, the second even better. So much so that I booked another ride after my return from Apu Ausengate couple of weeks later.

Great Experience

Monika_S, May 2026
Lovely local family-run business. Excellent horsemanship displayed by the team members. Horses were well kept and excellently behaved. I was a little nervous as I had not ridden for approximately twenty years. I was assigned a lively, easily manageable horse suited to my riding skills. We were quite a large group. Well managed by the guide and the muleteer. All information shared about Sacsayhuaman was accurate. Depending on the riding skills of individual riders, we were given the opportunity for trot and canter. Overall, fantastic experience.

Super interesting ride through serene landscapes

DEFNE_Y, Dec 2025
Lovely half day trip! Holger was a fantastic host — we spent several hours riding around the hills near Saqsayhuaman and visited a number of new excavations (Holger is from the area plus an architect so he was an excellent guide). Speed of the ride depends on your experience / comfort level, you could do the whole thing at a walk or choose to canter / gallop in certain stretches (we did the latter!). Ranch is small and quaint — only 20 mins out of the city but feels like a completely different, serene world. Also home to many super friendly dogs and the most adorable spicy kitten. Would absolutely recommend!
