As you travel, listen to your expert guide describe the grape varieties that thrive in this region, including Grenache, Cinsault and Counoise.
While at each winery, you’ll learn more about strictly preserved wine-making techniques, stroll through the cellars stacked with barrels of maturing wine, and enjoy a tasting session of several beautiful samples. The wineries are great--enjoyable, beautiful and remarkable. Each of the two wineries we visited was staffed with excellent in-house guides who made the tours and tastings a wonderful experience. Just a word of caution, watch who you book with. Our guide was far less engaged and interested (and interesting) than the AMAZING, INCREDIBLE guide of a competing company who was on the same tour to the same wineries, who was full of info and willing to share it. Also, even though my tour was confirmed for weeks as being a 'go,' within 24 hours of its scheduled time, I received a disturbing text that they were going to cancel me since I was the only one registered for that date and time. This made no sense and left me no choice but to change my holiday plans to accommodate the new time they gave me. That was inconvenient and disorienting--travel schedules are tight. Maybe this is an inherent risk of travelling solo. But the bottom line is that the two wineries were great and well worth seeing, but be careful about the agency you book with, esp if travelling solo.

Oliver was friendly and personable. However, the second tasting was just a tasting and not much engagement with the winery. If you have done a Champagne tour then this in comparison is underwhelming, I think the the second winery should have been a longer trip

We had a great time! The group was good and Emile was excellent. He gave us so much facts about the landscape on our drive to Châteauneuf-de-pape and all about this appellation. We tasted at two wonderful wineries and had a great morning. I would highly recommend Emile!

Very nice and knowledgeable guide that made a difference. Small sized groups that is also nice. Paired one very good vineyard (5 tastings and tour) with a more commercial winer that has large groups from cruise ships (wine and staff very good, no tour). Brief 5 minute stop at ruins of pope’s summer palace before tastings was interesting.

I highly recommend this tour! It was the perfect length (3-3.5 hours), our tour guide Joce (sp?) was fantastic, the wine we tasted in Chateau-Neuf-du-Pape was delicious, we learned a lot, and we just had tons of fun.

We had tried to book the afternoon tour and it was overbooked so viator got us a spot on the morning tour. On the way there we got stuck in traffic and had to meet the tour at the first vineyard location. Tour operator was very helpful in getting us there. Tour of the two wineries was wonderful. Tour guide was extremely friendly and kind. The guides at both vineyards as well. Liked the first winery better than second but definitely recommend.

The tour consisted of a drive (half hour) to a vineyard , which was lovely. Then a tasting at a very small winery. Owner was lovely and totally invested in her passion. Sadly they winery is not quite up to par - tasting 3 wines from same dirty glass, no water, no bread cubes. But it is a winery in its infancy - neat to see. I enjoyed seeing a winery just getting its legs. Ha ha .
Then off to another "winery" . There was no production on site - it was a retail operation. Nothing more. Again, no water, same glass for 3 very short pours (super cheap) no bread. Hostess a bit mean.
I have been on many wine tours that are WAY better
The guide was clearly just doing his job. No anecdotes, or charm.

Visited two wineries - one large one small - proprietors were knowledgable and articulate - very different stories. Tasted an abundance of wines. Some straight from the barrel.

Absolutely fantastic morning visiting two wineries tasting our favourite wine variety. Our driver was patient and knowledgeable about the local area. The lady at the second winery was so beautifully passionate about the product and process. She taught us how to taste wines properly. We learnt a lot at the first winery which was also a museum of sorts (more of an education centre). Thoroughly enjoyed.
