Top Nis How to Get Around

Discover fascinating history on a private Niš walking tour that goes from a medieval fortress to a local winery, stopping at a long list of landmarks along the way. Explore the center, tour the macabre Skull Tower, learn about the city’s Second World War history, and more—visiting with a personal guide means the flexibility to set your own pace and plenty of time to discuss the things you see.

With three Roman emperors born here, Niš won its nickname as the Emperor s City. This metropolis is like no other: you can stumble upon gipsy carriages drawn by horses while new and fancy cars slalom through the narrow streets, you can listen to traditional live music in a laneway bar while close by there is a hip music concert, you can admire a tower of human skulls or you can go for some quality shopping. Niš is a little bit of everything. Join our private walking tour and see some of the main attractions this city has to offer: the Holy Trinity Cathedral, one of the first places of warship built after the serbians won their independence in the 19th century, the Skull Tower and its terrible story of how the Ottomans punished the local rebels, as well as the Fortress with its collection of tombstones, the Turkish hamam, the mosque, the Roman ruins and many more.

During this tour, experience a variety of exciting activities and get the opportunity to admire the beauty of Stara Planina, Serbia's jewel, in a single day. Watch the graceful dance of wild horses, view canyons carved by rivers, and see extraordinary plant species found nowhere else. Indulge in the fresh air, savor delectable local cuisine, and embark on an invigorating hike through the emerald hills of the mountain.

Skip the self-drive strain and soak up the heritage sights around Despotovac on this private day tour, direct from your Nis hotel. Explore the myriad galleries of icy, sparkling Resavska Cave; travel back in time at medieval Ravanica Monastery and Manasija Monastery with its spectacular fortress; and capture natural shots at Vodopad Veliki Buk waterfall.
