You'll visit three different wineries, where you'll learn about Cypriot wine and the winemaking process and do a bit of tasting. You will be met at your location in North Cyprus and begin a fascinating journey through the island’s rich history and culture. Your first stop is the ancient city of Salamis, where Roman ruins, marble columns, baths, and the ancient theatre reveal the grandeur of one of Cyprus’ most important archaeological sites. We then continue to the Monastery and Tomb of St. Barnabas, a peaceful spiritual site dedicated to the founder of the Cypriot Church. The tour continues to the medieval Walled City of Famagusta, home to impressive Venetian walls, the legendary Othello Tower, and the stunning Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque, originally built as the Gothic Cathedral of St. Nicholas. Guests also enjoy free time for shopping and cafés in the old town. Before returning, we visit Varosha, the famous Ghost Town, frozen in time since 1974, before driving you back to your location.

Once we pick you up from your hotel, we will drive to the north part of the island, where we start with Salamis, founded by Teucer, in 1180 BC. We will visit the theater, the spa, and the gym. Here is where St. Barnabas was born and killed, the saint who had accompanied St. Paul during his journey through Cyprus. We will continue to the medieval city of Famagusta, whose mighty walls symbolize the city’s glory of its historic past and the need to defend itself against attacks from enemies. Next, we will visit the Cathedral of St. Nicholas (converted into the mosque of Lala Mustafa Pasha) in which, at the time of the Lusignani, the coronation of many of the rulers of Cyprus and Jerusalem took place. We will have the opportunity to walk through the narrow streets of Famagusta and see from the outside the citadel and the tower of Othello. Finally there will be a walk through the streets of Varosha, also known as Ghost town after the conflict of 1974.

Since 1974 this holiday resort had become empty due to the comflict during that year. Not only the hotels were affected but shops, bars and residential homes remain empty. The guide will provide you with an exclusive map which helps with navigation and additional information about relevant buildings. Once in the empty resort you are allowed to go wherever you want within the designated areas governed by the authorities.
