There are two main walking paths up Masada: the 1.5-mile (2.5-kilometer) Snake Path, which the Jewish refugees took, and the 0.5-mile (700-meter) Roman Ramp, which the Romans built to help conquer them. The Roman Ramp takes about 15 minutes; the Snake Path about 45 minutes.

What a fabulous tour. It's an early start but the day goes quickly with plenty to see and do. The tour guide was excellent and knowledgeable and the driver safe and timely. The Snake route is the most popular and easily accessible hiking route to Masada and takes around 45 minutes, but it’s a steep uphill climb with many steps.
Wear comfortable shoes, and bring sunscreen and plenty of water, especially if you plan on hiking; temperatures can reach 100°F (38°C) in the summer months.
The cable car and viewpoints at Masada are fully wheelchair accessible, although some of the ruins may be tricky to reach.
