Mad Alice welcomed the whole group and made it feel like we all knew each other. She was entertaining, engaging, had a great sense of humour with plenty of Yorkshire charm. Alice was extremely knowledgeable about York and told plenty of amazing spooky stories! I’d highly recommended to anyone unless they’re allergic to fun.

Great fun - Dan, our guide, was very charismatic and projected his voice so as to be heard clearly from anywhere in the group and regardless of background noise. Very entertaining, and highly recommended (despite the strong cold winds, and rain which greeted us)

My first ghost tour, and I would thoroughly recommend to everyone to go on one. Daria was a fantastic story teller, engaging and funny, she told so many great stories of York. Giving us a great history lesson of the place, and so many great sites. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone who wants an informative and unforgettable experience.

Our guide, Barry, was excellent. We were given so much relevant information throughout the whole tour. Barry was very friendly and was always ready to answer questions with a smile. We would definitely travel with Mountain Goat tours York again, especially if Barry was to be our guide.

Ellie was a great guide and really upbeat and knowledgeable on not just Harry Potter but the spooky history of York too. Full of quizzes and interactive moments, our group all got along really well and laughed a lot. Would definately recommend this tour. Thanks for an amazing couple of hours Ellie! (Also top tier bookshop recommendations too!)

Excellent tour of independent food/drink businesses in York city centre with just the right mix of York history thrown in to the mix. Ben, our guide, took us through an amazing tasting experience of cheese, fish & chips, gin, chocolate, burritos, macarons, tapas, sherry and sticky toffee pudding with beer. All of which in really interesting and historic buildings. If you like food and drink and history then this is the tour for you. Come hungry though!

Gorgeous scenery, and a smaller passenger van encouraged conversation between the passengers and let us get to places we wouldn't have otherwise seen. Chris was a fantastic guide and driver, picking us up right outside our lodging. He made several small stops in the course of our day, where there was an especially scenic view or something interesting to see. The museum visit, and stops to see the All Creatures Great & Small filming spots were a treat, and Chris pre-ordered our selected lunches at the Devonshire Arms ("Darrowby Arms"), which was delicious, and allowed time for us to visit the village. We've done a few tours on our trip (Whitby, which was nice, the Cotswolds, which were gorgeous in their own right), but this one was our favorite!

Absolutely amazing! I loved the interactive format, the actors were brilliant - some too realistic … My 9 year old grandson loved it too although some parts were a little too scary for him. I had to keep reminding him it was pretend which shows just how good it was! My favourite part was when he was chosen for ‘execution’ - apparently grandma isn’t supposed to shout ‘execute him’ with such enthusiasm. Would 100% recommend this. I did balk at the cost at first but it was worth every penny. Only one negative but not enough to downgrade - as someone with a disability, the unevenness of the floor together with the dark made me a little hesitant but still not enough to downgrade the experience. Oh and if you are disabled and need the toilet, find somewhere else to go beforehand as they are situated out of the building, up some steps and down some stairs! Take your kids, frighten them half to death and then laugh about it all afterwards!
