Akdamar Island is an important site of pilgrimage for Armenians, so dress and act respectively.
Wear comfortable, sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water, as it’s a short uphill walk on uneven ground to reach the church.
There’s a café on Akdamar Island where you can buy drinks and snacks, but there are no other facilities.
Due to the natural terrain, the island is not easily accessible for wheelchairs or strollers.
