What are people saying about Papeete

Amazing Island Tour and Guide
Booked an afternoon half-day tour in late June. Even though we were staying at a hotel on the pickup route, my wife and I wanted to spend that morning exploring Papeete. It was easy to negotiate a pickup at the ferry dock (prompt responses here on viator), and they sent us clear instructions for where to meet. Vetea picked us up, and was an immediately delightful guide, answering our many questions with energy and thoughtfulness. He maintained a great schedule, and at every stop gave the group time to walk around and take in the wonders. He bought us fruit from local vendors for us to try (with bonbon chinois!), and was quick to offer to take our photo at all of the attractions on the route. He even got us to Point Venus just in time to watch the sun set. The other selected stops on the tour, including the beaches, waterfall, and ruins, were rich with history and culture - very worth seeing. This was our second day in FP, so the tour and Vetea's guidance setting a perfect tone for the rest of our honeymoon is so special to us. Mauruuru roa!

Well Worth the Time
Outstanding day well spent esp if you are just getting into Papeete as you will see so much and learn so much about the culture, history and people. Eric and Eduard are excellent guides. This is a great way to start your trip, then rent a car and go back to the places you might want to see more of or stop to see areas of interest. Or book another walking tour of the city. Or do this and then do the tour into the mountains.

Best way to see the interior of the island
Manual was an excellent guide and driver. He really helped us learn about the indigenous plants and medicines and culture. He shared his history which was fascinating how far back he can trace. The road is insanely bumpy so be warned. We stopped at a restaurant for lunch which was nice but if you are a vegetarian you may want to bring your own

The best of Tahiti
We were picked from our hotel on time in a modern 9 seater van. Our driver / tour guide spoke good English and was very knowledgeable on his home country and our tour interest points. We circumnavigated Tahiti with stops at several interest points including a restored Temple (Marea? I think), cave created by wave action many moons ago, 100mtr waterfall, called in at In Laws for pineapple cake and deep Fried Bread Fruit, with the last stop being at Cooks landing point for the Venus transit in 1769. Even found out Capt. Bligh called in to collect Bread Fruit. A brilliant tour that was excellent value for money.
