Our guide Finn was excellent. He informed us of the history of Finland from the 12 century thru the present. The country that occupied Finland & their influence on the culture of Finance. The town of Provoo was interesting along with its history. We also visited a number of sites in Helsinki after Provoo. A great day with Finn. Do not miss this experience, highly recommend.

Overall a good tour of Helsinki major attractions before setting off to beautiful Porvoo. The tour driver and our tour guide was Finbaar. He gave a good thorough description of the sights along the way and got us back safely and on time.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and we learnt a lot about the history, culture, religion and architecture of Helsinki and Porvoo.

This was a very thorough tour historically. The tour rides by and permits short photo breaks at many sites in Porvoo and Helsinki. Finba was a terrific, knowledgeable guide who was very accommodating. The only negative is that the short duration of the tour did not permit lengthier stops.

The time of our trip was finally settled on 1pm after several confusing phone calls. A guide showed up at 1:45, blaming traffic, and drove us to our guide as he couldn’t find his way to our hotel. The 6 of us were squeezed into a very small van. The guide was new to the job and while very friendly and nice, did not have a great depth of knowledge. Also,he was from Nigeria so his background in the Finnish culture was lacking. No stories to add to the experience. His accent was heavy, and since there was no microphone the folks in the back could not hear or understand him. This was our last experience for the 2 weeks we had been cruising through Scandanavia and we were thoroughly disappointed.

We would like to clarify a few points. This was a small-group shared Helsinki & Porvoo tour, and two guides were involved, providing information about the attractions, Finnish history, culture, and the areas visited.
Our guide became aware during the tour that one guest had hearing difficulties and made efforts to communicate clearly. We regret that guests at the back had difficulty hearing without a microphone.
We respectfully disagree that there was little information provided. The guides covered the major sights and relevant history and information about Finland, while the guide was also friendly and professional.
We do acknowledge that the delayed pickup and difficulty locating the hotel were not ideal, and we apologize for that inconvenience. We appreciate the feedback and will continue working to improve pickup coordination, vehicle comfort, and audibility.
A wonderful tour with a knowledgeable guide. Porvoo is a must see. Only complaint is we could have spent 2 more hours there was so many cool things to see.

The tour was very good, except for the added half hour. She charge us 50 euro, due to lunch that was serve late. She gave us 1hr time. But the restaurant was slow. I text her& told her, she said charge extra for being late. Due to her parking. I don't think was right. She didn't mention, she have to pay for parking.

The €50 charge was for the additional time and overtime involved in extending the tour beyond the agreed duration, including the related parking costs. It was not a charge simply because the restaurant served lunch late.
We normally allow approximately 30 minutes in Porvoo as part of the tour schedule. However, our guide had already generously given you an additional 30 minutes of her own time as a goodwill gesture. When the restaurant service then caused the tour to run even further beyond the agreed duration, the additional time resulted in overtime and parking costs.
We understand that restaurant delays can happen, but when a tour extends beyond its scheduled duration, additional costs may apply. We appreciate your feedback and will continue to make the tour timing and any additional charges as clear as possible.
When we booked this, it specifically said Private Tour. We would have been OK with another two people but the provider crammed six of us into a small minivan. My wife had to crawl into the back seat over the middle seat. It was very uncomfortable.
We had to contact the provider the afternoon before to find out what time to meet, since no time was given anywhere in the paperwork/download.
The driver showed up more than 20 min early and expected us to be ready to go.
We did not go to all the places listed in the description. The driver seemed in a rush, and at least two places were never included in our tour.
Our driver gave us some info, but most of the descriptions came from another driver, who met us at a couple of the stops, then disappeared.

We would like to clarify a few points. This is a shared small-group tour, with group sizes varying according to bookings, and it was operated according to the advertised format and itinerary. Finba was operating a separate exclusive private tour with his own guests and was not part of this group.
Our guides provide commentary throughout the tour, covering history, buildings, surroundings and points of interest. Some locations are pass-by sights, while others are scheduled stops, exactly as stated in our itinerary. Admission fees are not included and this is clearly stated in the tour information.
The tour followed its advertised itinerary. Our pricing also reflects the high operating costs in Finland, particularly fuel, vehicles and transportation.
We acknowledge that the pickup-time communication could have been clearer and will continue improving this.
A private tour to take at your own pace, with plenty of history and current status discussed. Guide was also funny and showed the must see places

Just lost the long review I wrote listing all of our problems with this tour. We don't believe we had qualified guide, the car had 6 guests squashed in, as opposed to the 4 advertised, while Finba had another car with 4 guests. He dipped in and out of our tour once or twice. We didn't visit all the advertised spots, and at many of those we did vist no information was provided. We had to pay entrance at some of the churches, which should have been indicated upfront. We should have foreseen problems when 3 confirmation emails did not give us our pick up time and we struggled to get this information. So, all in all, a poor experience!

The tour was fast moving and gave good coverage of the highlights of Helsinki and Porvoo. Adequate time was provided for photos when appropriate. The guide Finn was excellent and very accommodating. The guide gave a good overview of the history of both cities as well as the state of those cities today. Guide was always open to questions and did not hesitate to respond. Driving was safe and responsible.

Our driver, Finbar, was wonderful. He picked us up at our hotel and had lots of knowledge about the tour. He was attentive and making sure everyone understood welcomed questions. He then dropped us off for our cruise, making sure we were not late for departure.

An absolute 10/10 experience! The private car tour of Helsinki and Porvoo was fantastic. Finba, my guide was incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating historical facts and hidden gems we never would have found on my own. The car was clean and comfortable, and the pace felt relaxed yet thorough. Porvoo’s old town is magical, and having a knowledgeable guide made all the difference. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic tour & would highly recommend. Our tour guide was excellent & even changed our tour time since we had delayed flights. The tour started in Helsinki & we toured the city area then to Porvoo. Porvoo is beautiful with its small red houses on the water. Our guide was very knowledgeable on the history of Porvoo & after the tour gave us a bit of time to shop also.

Very informative tour with a brief overview of Helsinki and a quick visit to Porvoo. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and an excellent driver. This tour is not in depth, but a great resource for parks, museums and other places you may want to return to for a deeper dive.

I have taken many tours via Viator and have left many positive reviews, however, this tour was way below Viator standards and should be dropped from the Viator listing. It was an absolute disaster. Tour was listed as "Helsinki and Porvoo Tour with Private Car & Personal Guide". We booked for 2 adults. A total of 8 passengers were crammed into a minibus. I felt sorry for the last "elderly" couple to board as they were forced to cram into the far back area of the minibus. The guide "if you can call him a guide" had little knowledge of the area, was constantly on his phone and sending texts while driving. Not only did he have little knowledge of the area he made many negative comments of the local people and told a few "off color" personal stories. I could say more but you get the message. VIATOR; I STRONLY RECOMEND THAT YOU REMOVE THIS TOUR FROM YOUR LISTINGS AS IT HAS PUT A BLACK MARK ON MY OPINIOM OF YOUR COMPANY and I now have a hard time recommending you to friends and family as I have done many times in the past. Your booking was for a shared small-group tour, not a private tour exclusively for you and your wife. This is clearly stated in the tour listing. The reference to private transportation means that the group travels in a private vehicle rather than using public transportation; it does not mean that the vehicle and guide are reserved exclusively for one booking.
On the day of the tour, all guests were travelling from the same cruise ship and were waiting for the group to assemble. Your party came out later than the expected meeting time, which reduced the time available for the tour. Upon arrival, you repeatedly insisted that the tour was supposed to be private for you and your wife. Our guide calmly explained the booking conditions and clarified that a fully private tour is a separate option.
Unfortunately, the misunderstanding continued throughout the tour. According to our guide's report, you were extremely upset and, on several occasions, spoke in an angry and confrontational manner. The guide attempted to explain the situation, but you were not receptive to the explanation and continued to express your frustration. There was also an occasion when you raised your voice at your wife, which further contributed to an uncomfortable atmosphere inside the vehicle.
We would also like to address the comments regarding the vehicle environment. We were informed that there was repeated smoking, a strong cigarette odour, loud behaviour, and occasions where the seat belt was not being used properly. As this was a shared tour, such behaviour can affect the comfort and safety of the other passengers. Our guide had to manage these circumstances while continuing to provide the tour to the rest of the group.
Regarding the allegations about our guide's professionalism and conduct, we take such comments seriously. However, we believe it is important that the circumstances surrounding the tour are also considered before reaching conclusions about the service provided. The guide was following the reservation that had been made and was attempting to conduct the tour while dealing with a guest who was unhappy because of an expectation that did not correspond with the booking.
We cannot agree that the tour was misrepresented. The distinction between a shared tour with private transportation and a fully private tour is clearly stated in the booking information.
We believe it is important to present the circumstances fairly and to consider the experience of the other passengers and the guide as well.
We remain committed to providing safe, respectful, and professional tours and will continue working to make the distinction between shared and private tours as clear as possible to avoid similar misunderstandings in the future.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Private Tour of Helsinki & Porvoo with Victoria!
We had an absolutely wonderful private vehicle tour of Helsinki and Porvoo with Victoria! From beginning to end, everything was perfectly organized. We were picked up right on time from our cruise ship, and Victoria made sure we were back with plenty of time before our departure, so we never had to worry about the timing.
Victoria was so much fun to spend the day with! She was friendly, engaging, and incredibly informative. We learned so much about Finnish history, culture, and everyday life while seeing the highlights of Helsinki.
One of the best parts of the tour was getting to travel outside the city to beautiful Porvoo. We loved experiencing the charming historic town and seeing a completely different side of Finland. Having the opportunity to explore both Helsinki and Porvoo made the tour feel extra special and gave us a much better appreciation for the country.
Victoria was a fantastic guide who made the entire experience interesting, relaxed, and fun. We would absolutely recommend her and this tour to anyone visiting Helsinki, especially cruise passengers wanting to make the most of their time in port.
