The Cradle of Humankind is one of the most interesting archeological tours one can do near Johannesburg. It is home to one of the most significant archaeological sites in the world and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 1947 Dr. Rorbert Broom and John Robinson discovered “Mrs Ples” a skull of a fully grown adult Australopithecus Africanus and in 1998 Professor Ron Clarke discovered fossil fragments here which led to the location of “Little Foot” a nearly complete remains of Australopithecus Africanus. In 2008 Professor Lee Berger announced the discovery of “Sediba” also at the Cradle area. The Sterkfontein Caves located in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind is described as the ‘anthropological treasure house of the world. It is the World's oldest and continuous paleontological diggings, having been worked on for more than 60 years, and contains one-third of the World's hominid fossils.

What if I told you that most travelers never really see Johannesburg? They pass through its streets, snap a few photos, and leave thinking they’ve captured its spirit, when in reality, they’ve only scratched the surface. Beneath the skyline and busy avenues lies a city filled with powerful stories, hidden corners, and echoes of history that few ever get to hear. Many visitors explore on their own, missing the pulse that makes Johannesburg truly come alive. Without a local by your side, it’s easy to overlook the details, the murals that whisper of resilience, the buildings that hold the city’s memories, the neighborhoods that shaped South Africa’s past and future. That’s where our Walking Tour in Johannesburg changes everything. Your guide doesn’t just show you the sights, they bring the city to life, adapting every step to your interests. You’ll uncover iconic landmarks and secret gems, all while connecting with the real soul of this wonderful city.
