Things to do in  Batam Center

Also known as the Temple of the Laughing Buddha, Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya is a large, modern Buddhist temple, which can be wrongly referred to as Southeast Asia’s largest temple. It’s home to five prayer halls, a vegetarian restaurant, and a serene courtyard lined with jovial laughing Buddhas, while the upstairs balcony offers views across Batam.

Formally known as the Raja Hamidah Grand Mosque of Batam, Batam Grand Mosque (Masjid Agung Batam) is a contemporary religious landmark. Completely transformed after a renovation in 2022–2024, the airy structure has space for an impressive 10,000 worshippers as well as community activities, with green spaces also set to open.
