Itineraries for Your Trip to Paphos
1 Day in Paphos for First Timers
I’ve always found Paphos to be a really fun place to visit. While many people come to this part of Cyprus to luxuriate at all-inclusive resorts during the day and feast on meze—traditional plates made up of multiple dishes—the biggest draw for me has always been the history. There’s just so much to see in and around town, from the beautifully preserved mosaics at the Paphos Archaeological Park to the Ptolemaic necropolis known as the Tomb of the Kings. Best of all, Paphos is compact enough that you can see the highlights in just one day. Follow this itinerary and experience it for yourself.
If you only have time for one thing, make it a visit to the Paphos Archaeological Park.
Paphos can get very hot in the summer, so come during spring or fall for a pleasantly warm alternative.
Get up early and spend your morning checking out some of Paphos’ top attractions. While you can drive yourself around town or even explore the city center on foot, you may find that joining a morning Segway tour is a more fun and educational option to find your way. Visit key attractions, including the Paphos Archaeological Park, with a professional guide who can help keep you on track while sharing commentary about the history of the area.
As temperatures pick up, cool off with some water-based fun. Don a swimsuit and choose between a range of water-related activities, ranging from the gentle to the high-adrenaline. Rent a boat and steer yourself out to the sheltered Blue Lagoon, try your hand at snorkeling or scuba diving under the instruction of an expert, or ride an all-terrain vehicle to out-of-town swimming spots such as Aphrodite’s Rock (the supposed birthplace of the Greek goddess of beauty) and Geroskipou Beach. Families traveling with young children may opt to visit Super Aphrodite Waterpark, where slides, chutes, wave pools, and a lazy river entertain the littles for hours.
In the evening, head down to the harbor to board a dinner cruise. Sit back and enjoy the view as your captain takes you out onto the Mediterrane THE TOP Paphos Dinner Cruises (Prices from $69) an. Choose an option that includes unlimited drinks, a massive spread of buffet offerings, and round-trip transportation from your hotel so that you can imbibe safely. Most cruises include onboard entertainment with lots of music and dancing as well as a fireworks show.
