I am a descendant of the Tachibana family, a retainer of the Yanagawa clan in Fukuoka. I am a descendant of the samurai, and I will be guiding the samurai. 　We will visit the Sengoku period history museum and the Hojo clan's Sengoku castle, and learn about the samurai and their castles for battle in the Sengoku period. 　The Sengoku period was a time when samurai were active and lively. In the upstream area of the Akigawa, lies Hinohara Village (Hinohara-mura), the only village in Tokyo's terrestrial area. Deep within, atop a ridge that surpasses an elevation of 700 meters, stands the ancient farmhouse known as the "Former Kobayashi House". The untouched landscapes of the mountainous settlements in Hinohara Village. The carefully restored ancient house we will visit, from the mid-Edo period, showcases the lifestyle of charcoal-making villagers. This house is accessible via a special mountain monorail. This tour offers a unique opportunity to explore the hidden lives and history of the Akigawa Valley and Hinohara Village.

Have the kids occupied while the adults enjoy the beautiful nature, attractions and temples of Mt. Takao and finish off with a famous Takao Soba lunch. We offer not only an all inclusive guided tour in English for the adults but also a “treasure map” style game for children to enjoy with prizes that include Japanese coloring books, snacks, toys and candy . We will even teach them Japanese! We will see the Takao Museum, ride the cable car, visit the monkey and flower park, learn about the temples and on a clear day see Mt. Fuji at the summit. We will take away the worry and make sure you enjoy one of the most beautiful places in Japan! Our guide has been teaching English in a Japanese Kindergarten for 20 years. He loves Mt. Takao and children. He especially wants children from other countries to learn about Japanese language, customs and culture.

On September 12 and 13, the streets come alive with the Kichijoji Autumn Festival, a perfect chance to witness a traditional Japanese celebration featuring a parade of Mikoshi portable shrines. See up to 11 Mikoshi, one from Musashino Hachimangu Shrine and ten from each district of the town. Each group has its own distinct style of carrying, chanting, and celebrating, making for a truly unique and exciting experience. At the festival’s highlight, all the Mikoshi gather for an impressive performance full of energy and excitement. On September 12, you can even carry a Mikoshi alongside the locals and parade it through the town, a chance you don't want to miss!
