Incredible experience
Simply Amazing. The village and the people in the morning and the volcano in the afternoon/evening. Is a long day full of emotion and long sometimes difficult roads. We had a great driver Tito and met Charley the organizer in his village just below the volcano, just before going up for an Incredible experience! I've visited almost 100 countries and this tour easlily makes it in the top 5!! 🌋Thank you! Merci beaucoup 🙏🏽

What a life experience! Must do tour.
We were very well looked after by William our tour guide and Tom the driver. First taken to the cannibal tribe (best to do your research about what to expect if you frighten easy). The tribe put on a wonderful performance and gave us education about their customs. Then taken to Shark Bay to view the sharks swimming. We stopped for lunch at a restaurant by the beach (meal included in the tour price). The first hot springs were underwater due to high tide but we visited a second hot spring and swam in the warm river that connected to the ocean. One of the local women took me and my son to see a waterfall past the hot springs. We ended the day on top of Mt Yasur and experienced the loud bangs of the volcanic eruptions and saw some lava rocks burst up through the smoke. Quite windy and cold at the top but William made sure to let us know it would be like that so we were prepared with jumpers. So grateful for the experience William and his team had given us. We will be back again!

Look Down Into Spewing Active Volcano Until Sundown
Great experience to visit Mt Yasur. My guide William/Charlie was great and offered a home stay for me to pair with the tour which was a good price. This is a long day event, the road conditions were slow going and if you have a tough time in vehicles you might want to reconsider because you will be bouncing around for a few hours as you make your way to the volcano. The volcano itself is amazing, you can hear it heaving and charging up before spewing lava into the air. The guide ensures you hike and stand in safe positions and you stay until it's dark to enjoy the lava glow at night. I suggest bringing an N95 mask because the first 15 minutes of the hike can be a bit smoky with the smell of sulphur (they offer masks at the start point in case you forget but they are the basic masks). Working with William/Charlie was great because he also offered to drive me too and from airport but just understand there is an extra fee for this and most food is an added cost. There is limited cell reception on the island so coordinate your pick up time before you leave for Tanna. Overall this was an excellent experience. Thank you!

  • Remember that Mt. Yasur is an active volcano and wandering off the designated trails can be extremely dangerous. Make sure that you listen to your guide and follow safety guidelines.

  • You will need a sturdy tripod in order to take decent photos of the volcanic action.

  • Bring appropriate clothing: warm layers because it can get cold at the summit, and closed-toe shoes because you will be walking over rough volcanic rocks.

  • Bring a flashlight if you take a sunrise or night tour.

  • Due to its remote location and tricky terrain, Mt. Yasur is not wheelchair accessible.
