Your adventure begins on the calm waters of the Victoria Nile, as your boat glides past riverbanks teeming with wildlife. The river is also a bird lover’s paradise, with sightings of kingfishers, bee-eaters, herons, fish eagles, and sometimes the elusive shoebill. As you cruise upstream, the landscape becomes more dramatic—cliffs rise, rapids stir, and soon, the cruise builds up to a dramatic finale at the base of Murchison Falls, where the entire Nile explodes through a narrow gorge with thunderous force before crashing 45 meters below.. The day begins with a scenic drive to the trailhead, followed by a guided hike that winds through riverine forest and rocky outcrops, all the way to the Bottom of the Falls. As you hike, your guide will share the geological and historical stories of the falls—once admired by early explorers like Samuel and Florence Baker. The trail offers several vantage points where you can feel the ground tremble beneath your feet and witness the Nile exploding through the rock with sheer force.
