Well balanced tour with sufficient time spent at Dove Lake, the chalet and forest walk. Beautiful scenery, easy walk and most importantly the driver Stan did a fantastic job driving us safely. The guide Ben was very informative, friendly and helpful. The group was split into 2 shuttle buses at the national park. The other driver/guide was also very informative and friendly. We had a fantastic time.

Good tour with a knowledgeable and friendly guide

Pamela_O, Mar 2026
This was a great tour and our guide Ben both very friendly and knowledgeable.. The stops in Sheffield (both ways) gave ample time to view the murals. The included lunch packs were very good. Although the weather wasn’t great, we braved the elements at Cradle Mountain to get a few photos. Hopefully we can return there on a better weather day 🤞🏻

Response from Host, Mar 2026

We’re so glad you enjoyed the tour and that Ben made it both informative and enjoyable! It’s great to hear you had time to explore the Sheffield murals and enjoyed the lunch packs. Fingers crossed for a return visit with better weather so you can capture even more of Cradle Mountain’s beauty.

Fantastic trip

A really full and interesting day

KRISTINE_M, Mar 2026
Our guide, Ben, was extremely knowledgeable. He made the journey very interesting. He drove carefully around the hair pin bends. Sheffield is a lovely little town. The packed lunch is very good. Once at Dove Lake, you do not have time to walk round it, but can go a fair way. The cabin visit was not interesting to me, but the walk through the forest was. Watch for leeches!

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Thanks for your thoughtful feedback! We’re so glad Ben made the journey interesting and safe, and that you enjoyed Sheffield, the lunch, and the forest walk. We appreciate your comments about timing and the cabin visit, and great tip about the leeches.

Wonderful experience

DEBRA_A, Feb 2026
Lovely tour with lots of relevant and local knowledge from Ben, our driver and guide. Stopped at Sheffield for quick coffee and look at the local murals and then onto Cradle mountain where the clouds posted briefly to show the craters of Cradle mountain. We then went onto the rustic replica of the home built by Gustav Weindorfer (and Kate his wife), walked back in time through the Hogwart like forest and vegetation. Then onto honey shop and then cheese place. Long day but we'll worth it!

Response from Host, Mar 2026

This is a really nice review, thank you for taking the time to do so. Sounds like you really did enjoy the day, and we will pass this onto Ben.

Fantastic Cradle Mountain

Future advice to newcomers

Theophil_B, Dec 2025
It was wonderful but some things to better your services 1. You have to mention the pickup points of the bus. As I went to the bus depot. 2. Because of the rain advice to bring rain coat or umbrella

Response from Host, Dec 2025

Thank you for the review. We appreciate your insight - the bookings via Viator have the option to select the allocated pickup points that we have available. Definitely worth packing a raincoat for the Mountain.

Great Tour Guide, Too Short Stay in Cradle Mountain

Ferdinand_S, Nov 2025
The tour guides Steve and Rob were great in providing good commentaries during the trip. They were both nice and accommodating. However, I was a bit disappointed that our stay in cradle mountain was just 1 hour and 10 minutes. I was expecting to stay there for at least 2 hours. It took more than two hours travelling in a bus to get to Cradle mountain and its a shame we could only stay there for just over 1 hour.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Good morning, thank you for taking the time to offer your experience. I am sorry to hear that you are feeling disappointed as the tour time allocated at Cradle Mountain allows guests to explore various parts of the park.

Annette_C, Oct 2025
Dress in layers, wear sensible shoes and clothing, bring gloves & a hat or plan to stop & shop while enroute.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

This is great advice for future travelers, thank you for sharing and reiterating with your experience.

Cradle Mountain in a day – recommended!

Michelle_G, Oct 2025
We enjoyed the Cradle Mountain Day Tour. Our guide, Steve, was fantastic and very accommodating. I expected a bit more time at Dove Lake, but the group was mostly older and not keen on walking, so we felt a little rushed and didn’t get to fully enjoy the short walks. It was a cold, wet day, which made it a bit tricky. Lunch was fine, nothing too exciting. Overall, it’s a great way to get a quick look at Cradle Mountain, and we’d definitely recommend it.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you, Michelle, for providing the review, I am sorry to hear you felt rushed on the tour, however, I am pleased you enjoyed the tour overall.

To Cradle Mountain and back.

Carol_H, Oct 2025
This experience is well worth the early start. Unfortunately for the trip I went on the weather was dreadful at Cradle Mountain, however that’s out of everyone’s control, the must did clear and we did see the mountain. Our guide Steve was excellent. He made the day enjoyable for us by giving us a choice of some places to visit, the honey producer and the cheese farm. He was extremely knowledgeable about Tasmania and particularly this area. Wear warm clothing and sensible shoes for walking.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you for your review, it is good to hear that you enjoyed the day regardless of the weather. Cradle Mountain is a wonderful location. We will pass on the information to the driver.

Wonderful day. Great tour guide. Would definitely recommend doing the tour

Kerrie_G, Oct 2025

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Thank you for the review, we will share the kind words with Steve. Glad to hear you enjoyed the tour.

This trip was a great one...

Sarah_J, Sep 2025
This trip was a great one day experience. Our driver and guide David was friendly, knowledgeable and very professional. I felt very looked after and safe the whole trip. The scenery is spectacular but just a word of warning - it was extremely cold. Like below 0 and the weather can be brutal. So even though it's a day tour, take waterproof clothing (a jacket - at least), scarves, beanies, gloves - the whole bit. The weather can turn on a dime and an umbrella just won't cut it up there. You need to be rugged up and waterproof.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

Thank you for taking the time to offer your review for this tour experience. I am pleased to hear the tour went well for you. And noting the weather is definitely important to highlight.

Road Closed

Ian_k, Sep 2025
When we were picked up we were advised that snow was expected at Cradle Mountain and a chance the last section of road would be closed preventing seeing the mountain. We were offered a full refund but everyone decided to take the trip. David the driver was very informative along the route withe several stops along the way. As we approached the visitor centre we could see the snow falling and unfortunately the road was closed. despite this we enjoyed the walks around the area and the indoor centre and warmed up in the bar over 3 hours . The views along the way made the 10 hour day worth it.

Response from Host, Oct 2025

This is wonderful to hear that despite the weather you were able to have an experience that was worth the mention. We appreciate the review.

Beautiful Day Out

LINDA_F, Jul 2025
David the guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour was a bit of everything and a great day out. Thoroughly enjoyed the stop in Sheffield where you could get out and find the murals around town. Inside the national park there was time for two short walks with cradle mountain in the background. Really enjoyed the visit to Weindorfer chalet and hearing about its history. The forest walk around the chalet was the most beautiful forest I have ever seen. Saw a few wombats about grazing. Quick trip to cheese factory was a nice way to finish. Thoroughly recommend this tour.

Response from Host, Jul 2025

Ayuka_K, May 2025
I thought I could hiking 4hours because it’s said 4hours at cradle mountain on itinerary. But I could stay for only an hour there so I felt too short for hiking.

Response from Host, May 2025

Thank you for your feedback. Whilst the itinerary does state the time at Cradle Mountain is 4 hours, it does also mention that the time at Dove Lake is 1hr. We do hope that you enjoyed the tour overall.

Cradle Mountain - Day tour

Anoop_M, Apr 2025
The Good David (the person who drove our bus) was amazing. He gave us beautiful description of every place, was very courteous and was great to interact with. I hope I got his name right. If you are visiting for the first time (like I was), this was a great tour to do. They cover most of the key sites to see and overall, it's a good experience. Food was good. The Not-So-Good. I think the tour needs to include at least 2 more walks and more time in cradle mountain part of the tour. To spend just an hour at 1 place and another 30-40 mins at the forest walk in a 10-hour trip that is to show cradle mountain makes you want more from the tour. It would be good to add 2 more walks and include a guide who can take us through the walk. The Murals at Sheffield is very good, but again like the cradle mountain leg, there is just half hour available and given breakfast is also at that time, it's impossible to see the murals properly. The tour needs to better organise things in terms of the content and focus on giving more time in Cradle Mountain leg of the tour. Too less time on key things and a constant rush to go to the next place, makes it difficult.

Response from Host, Apr 2025

Thank you for your feedback and insight on your experience of the tour. We will certainly take your feedback on board for future planning of the tour.

To do in Tasmania!
