The activity in itself was amazing. HOWEVER, it was organized very poorly. We got to the meeting point 10mn before the time, and no one was there, nor where they reachable. We had to insist to find someone that then oriented us towards the group, that was already heading towards the activity without even trying to reach us prior to understand whether we were around or not. They just didn’t really care. Other than that the activity as I mentioned were great!

Great tour! Dune buggy ride was like a roller coaster. Our driver was skilled and made sure to get us to a good spot in time to watch the amazing sunset!

The sand dunes were beautiful and dune buggy was fun and a little scarier than i thought but was a little disappointed to find out that it was not sandboarding, you just lay down on the board. The tour guide hardly spoke to us and was on his phone for the majority of the time.

The tour started out very poorly organized. There were a ton of different tours meeting at the same place and the guides showed up late. It wasn't clear who was supposed to be where.
Once we got to the dunes with our driver, it was much better.
This was the craziest thing we did in Peru. Driving on the dunes was like the wildest roller coaster ride I've ever been on. We were all screaming and flying out of our seats. It was a blast.
Sandboarding was a lot of fun. The tall steep dunes seemed scary, but it wasn't bad. The sunset was beautiful.

About 1/3 of the price to book when there are there are hundreds of identical tours so unless you want it booked in advance… book there

Dear Martina, Thank you for your review. We consider it necessary to explain why the price it is a little bit higher than some other companies. We have good vehicles and meet all safety regulations, our drivers are licensed and have a lot of experience driving during years in Huacachina desert. When you get to Huacachina you will definitely find cheaper options, but you need to make sure in which car you will be, because it honestly can be pretty unsafe.

What a blast! This was even more exciting than I expected. It felt like I was on a rollercoaster as we rode up, down, and across the side of the dunes. But I was never worried, as you could tell the driver was very experienced. Sandboarding was also a must, do it! Of course we ended with the view of the sun setting and then racing back to the drop off.
Just be prepared to walk dunes. I am 32 and thin, average shape and it was much more work out than I expected. Bring water!

We were running a little late and the tour operator (sorry forgot his name) took us by private car so we could join our group at the bottom of the dunes.
From there our buggy operator was really exciting driving through the dunes. He even convinced me to sand boarding and am glad I did.

The Guide show up before meeting time given and left without us. We received an email the night before giving us a pick-up window of 4:00pm - 4:20. On the day of, I received a call via Whatsapp from the Guide at 3:47pm asking 'where were we'. We were with a local who talked with the Guide letting him know we were near and would be there within the window given. Unfortunately, once at location we were informed the Guide left before 4:00pm and that if we wanted to meet up with them, we could pay half more to do so. That of course was out of the question. I then contacted Viator and explained the situation, and now 2 days since that tour; Viator have still has not agreed to refund my money. It should be noted that when the Guide meets you, you simply walk across the street and up the sand dunes. If they had sent us correct information, we would have been there or at least not make a request for refund as it would have been our fault. However, one should consider only booking this tour on the spot (it's cheaper anyway) and not using Viator if they are not going to protect their customers by holding the tour company to their own rules. Please note, all of this was shared with Viator and they are telling me the Guide must agree to the refund. Why would the Guide agree to a refund when Viator will still send them more people anyway? Beware!

Pickup was a bit chaotic, with a bunch of different operators picking up folks at the same hotel. We were connected with our driver, who didn't really speak to us the whole time -- he was on his phone arguing with someone mostly. Driving around the dunes was fun and exhilarating. We stopped once for a photo opp then drove to a couple spots for the sandboarding. One couple wanted to stand up instead of laying down on the board but we didn't have the right boards for that (one with foot holds). They tried unsuccessfully to stand and the rest of us just went on our stomachs. We went to a second photo op spot for the sunset, which was nice. Then our driver took us to the dunes above Huacachina and left us there after a quick goodbye to those nearest the vehicle. After he left some of us talked about how surprising his attitude was. If I could do it again I'd probably just walk up to one of the many buggies at the dunes and pay cash. Booking in advance doesn't guarantee you a good operator and prob costs more. But if you're in the area definitely check out the dunes.

A must in Huacachina! Our tour guide made sure we were present with the best sunset view! The sand boarding and the buggy itself were super fun.

The organization was chaotic; there was no guide, although I was there 30 minutes before the start. After a long search, I was taken to the Dune Buggies, while the others were given a drink, but I was not. The tour itself was good, with 2 hours in the buggy and 3 stops for dune boarding, not with ski or snowboard! The driver was excellent and drove very dynamically. The high price compared to the prices on site of the tour cannot be justified by safety standards or new vehicles, as everything is outdated, but it is one of them.
