A charming way to see Darwin and learn about WW2 on Australian soil. The additional stop to see the Military Museum made for a wonderful day.

Very good and broad information on Darwin history. Detailed info on WW2 bombings. Excellent narration en route, addressing lots of value added info. The WW2 Studebaker truck is quite special and adds to the authenticity of the Tour.

If you’re a history buff, this tour’s for you.
I first saw this tour advertised a few years ago and decided I wanted to do it. It took me a long while to finally make it to Darwin and it was at the top of my agenda.
Betty, the WWII transport is now a unique form of transport and her owner is an exceedingly knowledgeable man who has a wealth of knowledge and anecdotes to share about Darwin’s war history.
I opted to include the stop at the war museum, which I also recommend.
This is a great way to get introduced to Darwin past and present.
I’m very glad I was finally able to get this guided tour of such an important part of Australian recent history.

What a great tour of Darwin. The host knew his history about the bombing of Darwin and Cyclone Tracey.
Well worth sitting on the old WWII truck for the informative tour.

This was a fascinating tour around Darwin pointing out places with connections to the attack on Darwin in 1942. I knew little about this...am from the UK! The military museum was similarly informative.
Was fun to ride in a vehicle of the period.

Overall knowledge of the impact on all of Darwin, both from a military and non-military perspective.
Frona_H, Aug 2024
The guide was so good and excellent in his presentation - I knew nothing about Darwin before the tour. I loved his stories and anecdotes
AnneMarie_J, Aug 2024
Our guide was well-versed in local history, and provided an excellent narrative that connected historical events with the present-day cityscape. The city’s strategic significance and the impact of the Japanese air raids in 1942 can be felt during the tour particularly being seated in a World War II truck. We also had the option of stopping at the East Point Military Museum and rejoining the tour after the visit. The tour is a mix of historical education and immersive experiences that highlighted Darwin’s resilience and significance during a critical chapter in Australian history.

We loved the feel of driving in the army vehicle and more importantly the tour guide was simply amazing. The detail, dates and places we went was truly amazing. Gobsmacked that he could reel off everything without a dry throat, coughing or “ums” or “ahs”. Lovely man. Thank you.
kallinterise, Jun 2024
The tour guide was very informative and explaining things in detail. He was a pleasant person and enjoyable to listen to. I did the museum as an add on to the tour and that was worth visiting. Didn't realise the museum carried on to outside exhibits. Very intersting

My mother and grandfather were army personnel in transport, who helped with the evacuation of Darwin during the bombing in 1942. It was nice to think I was learning what they went through as neither spoke in length about it. Thank you

Our guide gave a most interesting and free-flowing narrative for the entire tour. He covered a range of different aspects of Darwin’s wartime history and the tour was perfect for us as we had only limited time in Darwin to see all these sites. A great experience.
