Gros Piton Hike

Stephen_W, Mar 2026
Dannyboy was amazing! Dannyboy’s knowledge, humour and attention to client details made our experience a wonderful one to remember (even though it rained most of the day….. lol)

Best day ever!

Lisa_D, Feb 2026
Danny was awesome! Nothing but Good Vibes Only! Would recommend to anyone and everyone! Danny made the whole day perfect!

The PH.D. of Travel

Saw Dannyboy & Co. on YouTube video re Gros Pitan tour and was shocked to see him in person to pick us up. Dannyboy is one of a kind: informative, entertaining and efficient [PH.D. in Pot-Hole Dodger as he boasts]. Make sure you ask for him!!

Challenging Hike

Jessica_M, Feb 2026
Dannyboy was a wonderful driver and gave us a ton of energy and facts about the island. I don’t. It is completely my fault for not reading the reviews and description further, but I was disappointed that Danny was not actually hiking with us. Though I enjoyed our ride, our hiking guide gave off the vibe that he didn’t like us. I will say I thought I was going to die on that mountain (maybe a little dramatic), so it is definitely not for someone who does not have endurance and hiking experience. We did make it to the top, and I am still sore days later haha. I got sick on the way back and Danny made me feel very comfortable, promptly pulling over and even giving encouragement while getting sick haha. Would recommend him if you don’t mind paying a bit for his personality.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Hi Jessica, Thank you so much for your honest review. We truly appreciate it. We’re sorry to hear you were disappointed that Danney wasn’t hiking alongside you. For safety reasons, we use certified local guides for the hike itself, while Danney handles transportation and overall coordination to ensure everything runs smoothly. We’re glad to hear you made it to the top (huge accomplishment!) and that Danney was able to make you feel comfortable on the way back. The Piton hike is definitely challenging and we always try to be transparent about the level of endurance required. Thank you again for choosing us and for the recommendation. It truly means a lot.

Great hike, tour fee was just for transportation

Anastasia_L, Feb 2026
The hike was really great and our guide was friendly, but the Viator tour is just for the transportation. Our driver was fun to chat to, but if you have a car you don't need this tour. You can get a guide at Gros Piton yourself as the entrance fee is not included in the tour fee.

Disappointed

Robin_G, Jan 2026
Unfortunately we booked this based on the wonderful reviews and that was not the experience we had. This was basically a very expensive taxi ride to the park. We got some fun local facts on the drive there but no discussion on the way back. Our driver asked to stop to use the restroom on the side of the road but didn’t even ask if we needed to stop ourselves and no offer of refreshments, no offer to stop for lunch, and no free beer after. So what we got was a $280 taxi ride.. on top of that when we did get to the park, our hiking guide wasn’t very friendly and seemed generally annoyed until we decided to turnaround after the halfway point (which was the right decision for us cause it was rainy and the rocks were slippery and this is a very rock heavy climb. We knew coming down would have been way much harder on our knees than we wanted to go through). But it wasn’t until we turned back that the guide became chatty.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Dear Robin, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry that your experience did not align with your expectations, as guest satisfaction is very important to us. After carefully reviewing your tour and speaking with the driver and hiking team, we’d like to provide some additional context while still acknowledging how the experience felt from your perspective: • On the drive to and from the Pitons, the driver shared information, answered several questions about the Pitons, and offered a photo stop on the return, which was declined. • During the hike, concerns were raised about the rocky terrain and slippery conditions. Your wife expressed discomfort and concern about the boulders and the possibility of falling, which we fully understand, especially given the weather. The decision to turn back was respected immediately, as guest safety always comes first. • Our driver, Lincoln, is a long-standing, trained professional with many years of experience. While he aims to remain neutral and respectful in all situations, we regret if any part of the experience felt less engaging than expected. •Restroom options were mentioned along the return route, which were declined at the time. • Refreshments, including water and beer, were provided following the hike. • No concerns were communicated to the driver during or after the tour, and the experience concluded with everything appearing satisfactory, including a tip. Had we been made aware of any issues at the time, we would have addressed them immediately. We truly regret that the experience felt more transactional than anticipated, as our goal is always to provide a warm, informative, and memorable experience. Your feedback is appreciated and helps us improve communication and manage expectations more clearly moving forward. Thank you again for choosing us

Top Notch!

Lisa_K, Dec 2025
Can I give Danny more than five stars? He was our tour guide for our hike of gros piton. He picked us up on time, was so outgoing and positive, in addition to being professional, and very organized. His bus— spotless. He took time to tell us so much about this island we now love— the history, the ecosystem, endangered animals, its beautiful people. My kids 20, 18, 16 were totally engaged with his animated storytelling. He allowed us to customize our tour, and took us to an amazingly authentic creole restaurant on the water, plus a hot volcano spring (not mud) which was privately owned. We were the only ones there and I truly felt like I was somewhere in Jurassic park. He quietly organized everything from asking our hiking guide to call him when we were almost finished the hike so he could pick us up at the precise time. Then he called ahead to the restaurant with our menu orders so we would not wait long. He’s a gem. Thank you Danny!!!!

Challenging!

Gail_C, Dec 2025
This is a tough hike both because mostly rocks and boulders, and a lot of elevation gain. But one can always turn back. Dannyboy doesn't hike with you because it must be the government guides but he is funny and a great guide about the island!

If you haven’t met Dannyboy, you haven’t been to St Lucia

Dare_F, Nov 2025
From our extremely charismatic and knowledgeable driver Dannyboy, to the exhilarating, challenging and rewarding hike, my wife and I would highly recommend doing the Gros Piton hike if you’re looking for a fun, ‘full-body’ cultural experience. In regards to the hike itself, I’m relatively fit, playing football 1-2 times a week and found it very manageable yet still an enjoyable challenge, made much easier with a walking stick which you can rent for $5USD. The hardest part for me was navigating the rocks going upwards and for my wife it was going down on the rocks due to the pressure of the steep decline. We were all smiles at the top which had amazing panaromic views and at the end of our less than 5 hour round trip hike. Capped off at the bottom of the mountain with a homemade guava & sour-sap ice cream at a quaint souvenir shop.

100 out of 10 stars

CULLEY_G, Oct 2025
If I could leave a 100star review I would. Danny was an absolute island treasure. He was super kind, knowledgeable, funny, and spent extra time with us.. he took us to a fantastic lunch and showed us how to navigate the Sulphur springs. His vehicle was modern and clean and we had the absolute best time with him!

Samantha_H, Jul 2025
Wonderful experience with Danny boy. We did the Gros Piton hike and he was very knowledgeable on our ride there. We were so grateful for his hospitality and kindness - especially when I got car sick on the way home. He made everything wonderful and we are so grateful for our experience. Highly highly recommend him!

Good Vibes Only! Thank you DannyBoy!

Forrest_P, Jul 2025
DannyBoy is top notch and I would highly recommend him and his team. Incredibly knowledgeable and timely. Very accommodating and helpful.

Dannyboy is the mayor of St. Lucia!

Ron_M, Jun 2025
Dannyboy brought even more Good Vibes and magic to one of the most magical places on Earth! We’ll remember him as much as the island.

Good vibes and great service.

Danny boy made the ride from Rodney Bay to Gros Piton enjoyable. He shared knowledge of the Island and had us laughing along the way. Good vibes!

Gros Piton Hike

Danny Boy was the best tour guide and driver on the island! Hiked Gros piton with no issues and enjoyed a cold piton afterward

Kayla_F, Jan 2025
This hike is more like a hike plus a scramble/climb. If you love hiking and the outdoors, it’s definitely for you. The driver was very friendly, and our guide was very good, getting us up to the top of the mountain. We were the only two on our tour (a bonus that you get your own group). Upon finishing (because if you start it you should get to the top of you physically can), we were greeted with some much deserved beers. This company did a great job, and from my research, it was the best value for this tour I could find overall. A guide is required for the trek, so booking here is a great day trip.

Highly recommend!

Allison_G, Jan 2025
We drove to the mountain, stopping along the way for snacks and water. Our guides on the hike were excellent. They helped us with challenging areas and went at our desired pace. The hike was incredibly tough, but the views were amazingly beautiful, so it was worth it.

Future Booking Recommendation

Emily_C, Dec 2024
The hike is challenging but fun. The views at the top are beautiful, and you can see the nearby island of St. Vincent. I strongly recommend the company adds some sort of question/booking feature that allows you to input your requested hiking pace; our guide could not keep up with us and we hiked half the trail independently.

Total rip off… we...

Michelle_S, Dec 2024
Total rip off… we basically paid $200 for a ride, 2 waters and 2 beers. Still had to pay $50 each to get in. It was too late to cancel when we realized we could have paid a driver $50 and the entrance fee for half the price. With that being said driver was pretty cool and we enjoyed the climb.

Response from Host, Feb 2025

Thank you for your feedback. We understand that perspectives vary, and we appreciate the chance to clarify. Viator features top-rated services like ours, but their commission impacts the total cost. We’re always upfront that entrance fees aren’t included, as they’re beyond our control. Our pricing is based on transportation from the farthest hotel or villa to the hiking ground, also factoring in wait time, to ensure consistency, as individual pricing for each location isn’t feasible. That said, we’re glad you enjoyed the climb and had a great experience with our driver! Creating memorable moments is our priority, and we’d love the chance to welcome you again in the future.

Rewarding hike, felt ripped off by tour operator.

Kurt_R, Dec 2024
The description of this activity is a “shared” hike. My wife and I preferred to have a private experience as we didn’t expect to hike the same pace as others, but it’s not a big deal. The night before our excursion, we received an e-mail from the operator saying that no one else signed up for the hike, so it would be private, and we owe an extra $55. It was not our fault that no one else signed up for this hike, nor does the description say anything about supplemental fees if no one else signs up. Additionally, the description lists a “cold Piton beer” and a “brief island tour with historical insights and local knowledge.” Neither happened. The hike is challenging and rewarding, maybe just book with a different tour operator.

Response from Host, Feb 2025

Thank you for your feedback. The hike was listed as a shared activity unless no other participants book, at which point it becomes private with a supplemental fee. This was clearly stated under "Ticketing." When it became a private hike, we informed you via SMS and email two days prior, and you agreed at the time. You also had the option to cancel if needed. Regarding the inclusions, our tours typically feature a cold Piton beer and a brief island tour with historical insights, which have been well-received. We apologize if this was missed during your visit and will follow up with our driver. Since your experience, we’ve updated our pricing to clearly distinguish private hikes, ensuring greater clarity. We're glad you found the hike rewarding and hope to welcome you again for an even better experience.

Best driver on the island.

Scott_C, Nov 2024
DannyBoy was amazing. Van was clean and he had lots of information to share to make the drive more enjoyable. He was very considerate trying to avoid the potholes and to make you feel comfortable. I would definitely book with him again.

Great hike!

Amber_B, Oct 2024
Our driver, Lloyd, was FANTASTIC! He’s friendly, knowledgeable, & just fun to be around. He shared lots of island fun facts with us & we laughed with him to & from our resort. Mya, our guide, spent most of the 4 hour hike socializing in Creole with her friend & not even hiking with us. That’s fine, we enjoyed the hike on our own, but we paid $260 for this tour. She didn’t speak to the multitude of vegetation in the rain forest or share any facts about the rain forest. Paying $260, I’d expect that if we actually NEED a guide, she stay with us & “guide” us. She put out zero effort for us. I noticed the same behavior from her coworker who was also “guiding” a tourist. I still give this 5 stars because the hike itself & the views are stunning. It’s definitely moderate to strenuous with very rocky terrain, but overall well worth it.

Great Hike, Better Driver!

Sean_C, Sep 2024
I enjoyed this hike. My S/O did not. This hike is rated as moderate to difficult. It's very hot and humid and some endurance is required. The view at the top of the mountain was incredible. Our guide for the hike itself wasn't the friendliest. Very quiet and not much learned about the local flora. Danny Boy, the driver to and from the base of the mountain was incredible. My S/O got sick at the base of the mountain. Danny made sure that he got us back to the resort as soon as he possibly could so that she could rest. I was very thankful for his assistance.

Great trip with DannyBoy

Henry_F, Sep 2024
Awesome excursion with DannyBoy! He is a wealth of knowledge about St Lucian history and local culture. He picked us up on time and drove safely to all of the excursions. The excursions stand on their own but he definitely added "good vibes" to our day. We'll book him for our next trip there and would recommend the same to a friend

Mountains, Mangoes, and Meows: Conquering Gros Piton

James_M, Sep 2024
My wife and I had the incredible experience of being the first to reach the summit of Gros Piton with our guide, Mavo (apologies if the spelling is off). Mavo was not only highly experienced but also shared fascinating insights about the local wildlife and the rich history of St. Lucia along the way. The hike itself is challenging in parts, but the path is well-maintained, with steps and handrails to help you navigate the steeper sections. One highlight of the hike is about three-quarters of the way up, where you'll come across an enormous mango tree—easily the biggest I’ve ever seen. Reaching the top is incredibly rewarding, and the views are spectacular. On the way down, we treated ourselves to Piton beer and refreshing coconut water, which made the descent even more enjoyable. A funny tip: beware of the cats that accompany hikers—they’re only after your snacks! I made the mistake of feeding one, and it followed me for a good portion of the hike. All in all, if you’re reasonably fit, I highly recommend this hike. It’s a memorable adventure that you won’t forget.

10/10 experience!

Amy_M, Aug 2024
we loved our excursion! Danny boy is the best!! i had read lots of reviews about him, so i was excited when we got him! our trip was about 2hrs and I got very car sick but danny has essential oils, and motion sickness glasses! how thoughtful!!!! he gave us all of the cool facts, stopped for a beautiful picture on the way, provided us with waters, stopped us by a grocery store to grab some snacks, towels when we got back down *we got some rain on our hike* and just gave us the best experience!! we definitely recommend!!
