One day trip from Milan to a Barolo winery with a stopover at the town of Alba. Just 17 persons. A beautifully appointed tour bus and excellent guide. Nice mix of people. Alba is magnificent and the wine tasting, hosted by the owner was really enjoyable with some splendid wines.
Response from Host, Sept 2026
Seventeen people is a group where everyone can actually hear the owner explain what makes one vintage different from the next. At a Barolo tasting that is most of the point, because the story behind the bottle sounds better from the person who made it than from any label. Alba rewards people who slow down there, and it sounds like you did. The good mix of people is the one part of the day we cannot plan, so we will just say thank you for being part of it.
This was the best day of my whole trip to Italy! Thank you Najma, for an informative and engaging tour!
Response from Host, Sept 2026
When someone calls it the best day of their whole trip to Italy, Najma has clearly done more than just show people where to taste wine.
The Langhe has a way of catching people off guard — it is not the Italy most visitors plan for, and that is exactly why it stays with you.
It was great to escape the Milan crowds to visit beautiful rolling hills, a hilltop castle surrounded by vineyards, taste a variety of truffles and hazelnut cream (not nutella), lunch in beautiful Alba, and relax under a vine covered pergola with some local wines. Be prepared for some stairs and sloping paths, but they are ok for the average person. Stefano made the long road trip enjoyable with fun facts and provided many tips for Milan. Do this tour first in your time in Milan.
Response from Host, Sept 2026
"Not nutella" might be the most important distinction anyone learns in Piedmont. Stefano tends to turn the drive itself into part of the day, which is the whole point of not rushing everyone onto a coach. Good call on the stairs note too—honest and useful for the next person reading this. And doing it first so you can use his Milan tips for the rest of your trip is exactly the right move.
If you only go on one vineyard visit make it this one! Stefano was a brilliant guide, full of interesting facts about Italy as well as wine.
The vineyard itself is in a beautiful location and the wine superb. You can also get it shipped home!
Response from Host, Sept 2026
Stefano tends to do that — you come for the wine and leave knowing more about Italy than you expected. The Barolo hills earn their UNESCO status the moment you see them, and yes, shipping home means you don't have to choose between your suitcase and the good bottles. Glad this was the one that stuck.
Monica was so nice and informative. We had the best time! The views and wine at the vineyard were amazing!
We had a great day with Stepano our tour guide. We had a truffle tasting then we had time for lunch on our own before we went to our wine tasting. It was a ling day but well worth it.
An enjoyable day to visit Alba from Milan, although it is not truffle season. Visiting a winery in Piedmont Hill Area, n a castle with beautiful scenery, and wine tasting offer is generous for wine lovers to enjoy Barbatisco wine productions.
Very fun. Not only just a wine tour and tasting, but a trip to a nice little town in Italy. The guide was very helpful and knowledgeable and the people running the vineyards were exceptional as well. Also the bus driver was great! We went on a Sunday so fewer shops were open, but still had a wonderful time.
Stefano was incredible. He gave everyone a personalized experience providing historical insight and friendly conversation. He ensured that everyone enjoyed their time at each destination. The family at the Montaribaldi Winery was excellent and kind. We greatly enjoyed their wine tasting experience. We definitely will book again with Stefano on our next trip. Highly recommend any tour he oversees. He also gave each of us a guide for recommendations in Milan throughout our stay.
Oleg, our driver and tour guide was extremely well read and shared his vast knowledge with us on varied topics making the whole experience very enjoyable. He took us to very exclusive places that most people would never have access to and hence the tour was very curated.
Very nice wine tasting experience to BARBARESCO wines in Piedmont region. Exceptional lunch experience at Hostaria dai Musi. All thanks to our tour guy and to the driver who provides with the most comfortable ride on an executive coach. The introduction speech of Italy history, area highlights and local culture makes the two hour road ride an enjoyable journey. Highly recommended!
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for this. Glad the tastings across both Barbaresco and Barolo made an impression, along with lunch at Hostaria dai Musi. Good to hear the ride was comfortable too, and that the introduction to Italy's history, the area, and local culture made the two hours pass quickly rather than feeling like a transfer. Thank you for the recommendation.

The trip sounded more exciting with UNESCO site and wine region. The guide Stéfano is very knowledgeable about Italy, Milan and the areas visited. It’s a long drive there and when we get to the historic site, we are left to visit on our own (there’s a path below with great signage and information or you pay for a visit of the castle but not even sure we had enough time) while the guide takes a coffee; then on to Alba where the local product tasting is great and the recommended restaurant excellent (we do this on our own); then to winery for visit and tasting. Great wine tasting with the owner and wine specialist in beautiful setting. All in all it’s a fine tour but just not worth what we paid. Of course, we then had a bus problem on way back with tire blowout and had to wait 2.5 hours on the side of the highway. Upon examination, all tires were in poor shape. I do not blame the tour operator who did his best to solve this except that a better quality bus should have been booked from the beginning. Again, all I ask is to get what we pay for. As a comparison, we had done two very different tours in two other cities in prior four days that were excellent.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for the detailed review, and for the opportunity to clarify a few points.
The tire issue was handled the same day: a 25% refund on the total cost was issued to every passenger, without hesitation and without anyone having to ask. That is a full quarter of what was paid, refunded immediately. I want to add some context here that was already explained to the group during the emergency itself: the vehicle involved was not our regular partner. Our usual transport provider had a logistical issue that day, and we brought in a substitute on a purely exceptional basis to avoid cancelling the tour. Given what happened, we will not be working with that provider again under any circumstances.
I also want to correct a couple of specifics. I do not drink coffee, so the suggestion that I stepped away for one while the group visited the site does not reflect what happened. During that stop I spent roughly two and a half hours with the group, walking through the history of the castle and the surrounding area in detail. The note that guests were left on their own sits oddly next to that amount of time spent together.
On the value of the tour: the price includes a full day with a licensed guide, transport, a welcome aperitivo with house wine, and a tasting of eight excellent wines with the winery owner and a wine specialist. This is a premium format by design, small group, direct access to producers, and the pricing reflects what is delivered. Comparing it to unrelated tours in other cities does not account for what is actually included here.
The vehicle problem was an exceptional, one off circumstance involving a provider we no longer use, and it was addressed fully and immediately. I stand behind both the tour itself and how the situation was handled afterward.
Stefano
Very professional , great tour and outstanding guide.. views are spectacular, wine tasting was a great experience .
.
The tour guide was Excellent!!!! This tour is a must-see ! The town of Alba was lovely, food outstanding! The winery was amazing. Best I've been to so far n I've been to Napa n Tuscany.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for this, and for the comparison to Napa and Tuscany, that means a lot given how much wine touring you've done. Glad Alba, the food, and the winery all lived up to it. Thank you for the recommendation.
Stefano
The tour guide (Andrea) and the driver were great (5/5), nothing but compliments. Winery (3/5): We had expected to go to more than one winery based on the tour description and the cost. The winery we went to was a beautiful setting but the wines themselves were just ok. Out of the six or seven wines we tried, only one was a Barolo. Barolo is our favourite kind of wine and these were underwhelming. We were expecting to go to Barolo, but it seems we were brought Barbaresco only. The wine selection was a bit disappointing
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for the kind words about Andrea and the driver.
Just to clarify: the tour includes one winery with generous wines, exactly as described, and is designed to be relaxed, not rushed. The winery you visited pours both Barolo and
Barbaresco — you actually tasted two Barolos, plus a single-cru 3 Barbaresco, a lovely wine very close in style to Barolo. Barolo is produced across 11 villages, with many excellent wineries to explore.
For guests who'd like to choose a specific winery and a custom itinerary, we also offer private tours, at a higher price.
On value: a small group, well planned and unhurried, costs more than the €129 alternatives — but those pack 50 people onto a bilingual coach. The experience isn't comparable.
We'd love to welcome you back.
Best regards,
Oleg

It was an amazing experience! We saw some truly unique sites on our tour. Our guide and driver were wonderful. Andrea and Fabio took care of us the whole time. The wine tasting was unforgettable. We had such a wonderful time in Alba because he had plenty of time to enjoy everything I’ve ever experienced, and we also had one of the best meals ever! The castle and site were breathtaking. 100% recommend this tour, you will love it.
Response from Host, Jul 2026
Thank you for this. I'll make sure Andrea and Fabio see your review, they'll be really pleased. Glad the wine tasting, the time to enjoy Alba, the meal, and the castle all made for such a memorable day. Thank you for the recommendation.
Stefano
Trip as described! Fun and informative guide and comfortable transportation. Small group received wonderful attention including a truffle tasting that was an extra perk. Gorgeous winery, loved Alba and the lunch suggestions from the guide. The castle had amazing views!
Amazing trip from start to finish! Lucas was our tour guide really knowledgeable and friendly. The whole trip was very well organised and worth every penny! Loved it so highly recommend it.
Amazing experience with our guide - Amato & driver - Alberto. Both very friendly & helpful people.
A wonderful one day trip of the Langhe region where we visited the little town of Grizane Cavour, with panoramic backdrop of Barolo vineyards. Followed by a 2 hour in beautiful Alba city, where we have lunch on our own.
Amato recommended a list of restaurants in Alba & a few of us went with his favourite. Food was indeed yummilicious! Then, we ended our tour perfectly in Barbaresco, visiting a family owned vineyard & winery. Our host in the winery - Stefano was also very good. & of course, wine tastings after a quiet winery tour. I tasted about 8 wines, including the welcome cocktail made with a white moscato. So perfect for the hot day!
Overall a very much recommended day tour!
This was an amazing experience! It was a small group in a very comfortable MB van instead of the huge tour buses. Our driver, Alberto, got us to the three locations and back to Milan safe and sound and our tour guide, Amato, was very informative and suggested a great place to eat in Alba. After exploring the castle and then Alba at our leisure we were off to the wine tasting to have some fantastic wines from Barbaresco and Barolo! This was a nice, laid-back tour and a perfect way to end our trip to Europe!
Lovely scenery. Amato and Fabio were good guides. Should have included more than one winery for the length of the trip.
This was a wonderful day trip from Milan, in which we got to see a different region of Italy. Alba was beautiful, we had a wonderful meal there. And the Barolo wine tasting experience was perfect. Our guide Amato and driver Fabio did an excellent job.
This was a fun tour Amato and Fabio were great. The sites were very interesting and the wine was delicious.
What a day! I was fortunate enough to drink some really nice wines and visit the town of Alba and to share this day with my family. I wouldn’t hesitate to book this tour.
Excellent experience in a small group. Every detail was thought out for us. Friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. We appreciate the safe driver.
Breathtaking views.
We loved this experience, Amato was a fantastic guide and Alberto was a great driver, the tour of Alba and restaurant recommendations were extremely good and the wine tasting was lovely. A great, relaxed day out in the beautiful Piedmonte countryside!
This excursion was the highlight of our visit to Milan. The van was comfortable and our guide and driver were informative and friendly. We stopped at a beautiful castle with amazing view of the vineyards and the snow capped mountains in the backround. The stop at Alba was so much fun. The town was so clean and beautiful. We had a private visit and tasting of white truffles and hazelnuts which was so informative. The guide made reservations at a Michelin restaurant that was wonderful. I wish we had more time in Alba as there were so many shops I wanted to visit (next time). The wine tasting was the last stop and it was great. The view from the vineyard was spectacular. The whole day was amazing.
This small group of 18 with 2 choices of meeting places was so fun and so convenient. Our guide was fabulous, the van was so nice and the scenery was beautiful. The wine tasting was so good, so fun and in the perfect setting - overlooking the vineyards.
Our trip was fantastic! The town of Alba was so charming. Loved the truffle tasting, then a stop by local outdoor market followed by an incredible lunch outside to take in the quaint while atmosphere. The wine tasting in Barolo region did not disappoint !!! We were provided an intimate wine experience with the family/owners themselves (and I believe tasted 8 red wines in total). The highlight of our entire day was our exceptional guide Oleg!!! He was such a pleasure to spend the day with while sharing a wealth of local knowledge.
One which you must take if visiting the Milan area. This tour takes you to the charming town of Alba with cobblestone streets with plenty of shops and restaurants. In the afternoon, you will visit an old beautiful castle and afterwards visit the Barolo winery with samples of their wonderful wine. A long day but worth it!
